I also thought I was 9 weeks pregnant, but according to the ultrasound, the baby is only 6 weeks old, measuring 0.420 cm in size, and has a heartbeat. I have to go back in 2 weeks, which is making me worry terribly. -

It can all go so differently. With my first, it matched exactly. With my second, I was much further along than I thought. I just had a normal full period. And now with the third, I’d be a week less pregnant. There have also been studies done on the timing of implantation. Apparently, some fertilized eggs wait another week or even two weeks to implant. Cell division then pauses for a moment. And then you’re due later. Some women also bleed during implantation, and the amount of bleeding can vary. If a first ultrasound shows a beating heart, the chance of miscarriage is small. So I’d say don’t worry, enjoy it. It remains wonderful that from two cells a new little human being emerges. -

Exactly the same here.... It's because they can't say for sure when you ovulated. I also thought I was 9 weeks, but it turned out I was only 6 weeks. -

Dear ladies,
I'm a bit more reassured by all these stories! Thank you so much!
Now just 1.5 weeks left to try not to worry and hope that the little one is growing well! (At the 8-week ultrasound they said I was only 6 weeks, and the midwife said, yes, you should also keep in mind that it might not be growing properly, with a look in her eyes as if she already thought it wouldn't be okay!) -

Hi, you already have more certainty by now, but I just wanted to let you know that I also skipped a period 3 years ago. I thought I was 10 weeks pregnant, but it turned out to be only 5 weeks, and now I have a toddler of 2! So it's definitely possible. -

Once they see a gestational sac, you're basically pregnant—it doesn't really matter whether it's 5 weeks or 10 weeks.
The thing is, they measure it and base everything on that, but everywhere I read, it says "my baby should be x cm," but if it's much smaller, sometimes it's stretched out, other times it's curled up...
I'd recommend just calmly waiting for the next ultrasound and not worrying too much. You never know exactly when implantation happened. What you do know for sure is that there was a positive test and a gestational sac. -

Hi everyone,
Just had the first ultrasound and it’s not sitting right with me.
I don’t have a steady partner and got pregnant after a nice evening with a really good friend. The sex was about 7 weeks ago, but according to the first ultrasound, I’m now 8 weeks and 4 days. According to the dating scan, the baby was about 2 cm. In two weeks I’ll have my second ultrasound, then they can do a better scan and say more exactly how many weeks it is. The midwife already said that there’s almost never a week difference, just a few days.
If we have to go by the midwife's info, my best friend can't be the father, and I'm feeling quite stressed about that now.
The last time I had sex before that was on August 3rd with a one-night stand. I got my period on August 11th, but if I calculate from that, I don't come up with 8 weeks and 4 days (based on my period and ovulation).
I read a lot of stories about people being pregnant for shorter than expected, but I'm actually longer pregnant than expected.
My heart was beating fine and everything was good so far, but I'm getting a really bad feeling now that the weeks don't match up.
Has anyone experienced this? -

Hi everyone,
I had something similar happen yesterday. It was my first visit to the OB-GYN. I normally thought I was 9 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I was expecting a little baby with hands and feet, but instead, I got a spot measuring 0.68 cm
The doctor told me I was only 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant.
However, I had a positive blood test on June 20th, and three positive urine tests. According to the doctor, you can only see it in your blood after being fertilized for 9 days (I was only 7 days according to her ultrasound at the time), and in urine only 13 days after fertilization (that's also a 6-day difference). So, it was actually impossible for me to have tested positive on June 20th if I'm only 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant now...
She says my baby is perfectly fine, with a beating heart and good length for a 6-week-and-4-days-old baby... I'm allowed to come back in 2 weeks to check if everything is growing well...
I'm terrified that my baby isn't growing properly
How could I have tested positive back then?

Here’s the other way around. According to my last period, I was 5 weeks pregnant, but the OB-GYN said that didn’t match—she said I was already more than a week further along. Even though I was sure about my last period, she insisted I couldn’t have been mistaken... because that would mean conception happened on the last day of my period, which is impossible. Conception usually occurs 1 to 2 weeks after your period starts. So it’s quite special. But they always count pregnancy from the first day of your last period. So if your last period was on September 5th and you were active two weeks later, you’re supposedly pregnant since September 5th. Those extra two weeks are always added. -

Hi
What was ultimately diagnosed after the 7 days? I have exactly the same questions. -

I calculated my due date as 8 weeks and 5 days last Tuesday. But according to the ultrasound, it's 6 weeks and 5 days. A gestational sac is visible, though. No heartbeat yet. I don't have any symptoms. In two days, I'm going back to the clinic. I'm really worried. The clinic didn't give me a clear answer. They mentioned I might have a miscarriage, also because I'm 40. I'd really like to see an obstetrician, but I still need to have another ultrasound done at the clinic. -

I also have a question. According to the midwife, I'm currently 15 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I tested on November 10th, a few days before my expected period, and got a positive result. My period was due around October 12th, but I only had light bleeding for 3 days—no pain, really. According to the midwife, I conceived on October 21st. Could she be wrong and I'm further along than she thinks, or was those 3 days of bleeding just a period? Can anyone help me? Greetings -

Hi ladies..
I might have a bit of a weird question..
But I had sex on April 2nd with someone, and then I went back to my boyfriend and had sex with him on April 7th. Now I'm 17+3 days pregnant. According to the midwife, I conceived on April 8th. So the question is, how big is the chance that it's not from my boyfriend?
A DNA test will definitely happen.
Thanks in advance. -

Sperm can survive in your body for up to 5 days, so 2+5 is April 7th. If conception happened on April 8th, it seems to me that it's your boyfriend's!
I hope it works out for you! -

hey,
same story as the lady above, I had my period on June 26th. I thought I was 9 weeks pregnant, but the midwife told me today that the baby is only 5 weeks and 6 days. It seems like that's the case. She suspects that the pregnancy has stopped developing. She does see a dot that should be the heartbeat, but it doesn't match my blood test results from a few weeks ago. According to those blood values, I should have already been 6 weeks pregnant. Hmm, now my midwife has given me three options:
1. Wait for a miscarriage to happen naturally.
2. Take a pill to induce a miscarriage.
3. Have a D&C (curretage).
Hmmm..... I have no idea, but I'm leaning more toward letting nature take its course. -

I'll have someone check again before you decide if the heart is beating properly or if it has grown. You can always make final decisions later. -

Hi everyone,
I want to share my story with you and ask for some advice. My last period started on August 4th. I took a test on September 18th and it was positive. At first I was still unsure, so I took a second pregnancy test on September 22nd, which was also positive. Last Friday I noticed just two small bits of blood, and then nothing else. But yesterday I went to the toilet and while wiping, I saw some blood. I quickly went to see my midwife, who immediately referred me for an ultrasound. In the meantime, I hadn't seen any more bleeding. But on the ultrasound, it showed that I'm 6 weeks pregnant and there's a gestational sac visible. This is quite puzzling for me right now. I don't know what's going on. I really want my baby. The doctor told me to come back for another ultrasound in 3 weeks. When I got home and went to the toilet again, I saw some mucus with some clumpy dark blood, but since then, nothing more. Could this be a miscarriage? If I were indeed 3 months pregnant and had already miscarried at 6 weeks, wouldn't I be seeing heavy bleeding by now? What's strange is that I'm no longer feeling nauseous or throwing up, because I was given medication by the midwife to stop that. I don't have any stomach pain at all, I still feel normal hunger, my breasts are still tender, and I still have dark spots and pimples. Wouldn't I be seeing heavy bleeding earlier if something were wrong?
