1st trimester
I calculated 9 weeks myself, but the ultrasound showed 6 weeks pregnant???

You'll read that here quite often. Sometimes the sonographer just gets it wrong, and sometimes your cycle is simply different than you think, or both. If the heartbeat is there and everything looks good, that's at least a perfect sign and no reason to worry at all (even though I know you still do).

Hey Lieve, thanks for your reply. It bothers me more that I basically skipped a whole month (didn't get my period and wasn't pregnant either) – I just don't get it at all. My midwife simply said to that: "Yeah, I don't have an explanation either..." -

Hi hi,
I have to say I don't really get that whole calculation either. At least not when I try to apply it to myself
Anyway, the start of this year was chaos for me. I lost my old job and was looking for a new one. Luckily, I found a new job at the beginning of February. Because of all the stress, I forgot to take the pill a few times (which has happened to me before). On top of that, I remember telling my new colleagues: "What a fertile company! So many babies were born there."
I also remember that I had my last period about a week into my new job. That must have been mid-February. If I calculate from there, my due date would be around November 21st. According to the EDD calculator, it's December 4th.
Well, we'll see. I'm happy if she comes on the 21st too
She's more than welcome, haha.
Best wishes and enjoy your pregnancy!!!

@AnneIdd a chaotic start for you, but luckily everything ended up on its feet after all.
I think my anxiety is more because I've already had 3 miscarriages.
I think I'll only feel at ease after the second ultrasound I'm going to have.
So just wait and see, but that week feels soooooooooooooo long
I'd say enjoy your pregnancy (you're almost there)

Yeah, I hear that a lot too, and a late ovulation is super clear to me, but someone skipping an entire month like I did, I've never heard of that before.. Weird

I think it could be a combination of late ovulation and a measurement error.
If everything goes well, you should have received a form with the measurement results. If not, you might want to ask for it. Usually, they take three measurements and average them. If one of those is off, you could end up being a week and a half earlier or later. -

Sometimes sonographers really do get it wrong. With this pregnancy, it was like that too—the sonographer told me when I got pregnant, even though we hadn’t had sex back then. Nice as all that technology is, sometimes it’s just… well, you know.
Just keep a close eye on the baby’s growth and don’t stress too much. Enjoy your pregnancy! -

Hi everyone,
First of all, thank you all for your kind and reassuring messages
.
Just a quick update from me: I went for my second ultrasound today and I'm now 9 weeks along, exactly as planned. Everything is growing well, the heartbeat is amazing, and it was so nice to see the head, hands, feet—everything is there.
Now I finally feel reassured and can truly enjoy my pregnancy
Lots of love,
Jelena -

It takes 14 days for it to reach the uterus and then another week for implantation, so it all works out perfectly. -

Congratulations, enjoy it! -

Hello :-)
A doctor usually counts in baby weeks!
If your baby is, say, 10 weeks old, you are 12 weeks pregnant!
There is a difference of about two weeks, and that's perfectly normal!
This is the time between conception and implantation (if I'm not mistaken)

I have the same problem
I thought I was 9 weeks already. I had sex on Dec 27 and in the week of Jan 7 I already got a positive test (I was supposed to get my period that week). I went to the UK this week on Feb 12 and there they said I was 6 weeks. So now I wonder if that's correct? It did look like 6 weeks and the heartbeat was consistent with 6 weeks, but could there still be weeks missing? My last period was on Dec 4. It's all so confusing and it's worrying me a lot
They also couldn't explain it. I did have some pink spotting and occasional pain. I have to come back in 3 weeks, which I don't get at all – that's way too long!!
Oh yeah, this is my first one. -

I’d also really like to share my story. Maybe someone here wants to take a look at it with me.
I stopped taking the pill on March 10th. I did this consciously, and therefore I consciously wanted to get pregnant. I had sex with my boyfriend from March 10th, almost every day. On March 15th or 16th, I had a light pink bleeding that lasted only a few hours. I already thought I was pregnant then. At the end of the month, I took a test and I wasn't pregnant. Later, I had a test done at the hospital, and then I was pregnant. On May 27th, I went to the gynecologist who asked me for the first day of my last period. I didn't know because I hadn't really had a period after stopping the pill. Well, they did an ultrasound. It turned out I was 10 weeks and 1 day along. The heartbeat was completely fine.
The gynecologist said that I would have ovulated on March 30th, and from that day on, I counted myself and it would have taken 4 days for the egg to implant in me. Is that possible, or does implantation always take longer?
Also, I was quite sad because I work in the sex industry and it happened twice that the condom broke. That was on March 23rd and April 5th/6th. I can rule out the second time because I was already pregnant then. But could it also be that the sperm stays in me for 7 days until an egg is fertilized? (I should mention that after the guy pulled out, the condom got stuck inside me and I pulled it out, so maybe there was no sperm in me) but I remain unsure about it.
The gynecologist says my due date is December 21st. I myself calculated 9 months from when I had a light bleeding on March 15th to December. If my due date is December 21st, I can also calculate from March 21st to December 21st. That is also exactly 9 months.
I don't understand the gynecologist's calculation at all. How do you count from April 3rd to January 3rd as 9 months and then my due date is December 21st? I don't get it. Maybe someone wants to help me and take a look to reduce some of the uncertainty. -

Hi Reni,
What a story. First of all, congratulations.
It's never exactly 9 months. You don't count from April 3 to January 3 as your due date. It's about weeks. There are also some programs online that calculate it for you. My last period was on May 6, and if I were pregnant now, I'd be due on February 10. They look at the last period, but then you're not yet pregnant.
Mostly, the midwife or gynecologist can tell you how far along you are based on your baby's growth. Otherwise, I'd discuss it with the gynecologist; maybe that can help since they explain it much better. They deal with this every day. Hopefully, this helps a bit. And don't doubt yourself. -

I don't get it anymore either. My last period was on June 14th, so I should actually be 9 weeks pregnant by now. Two days ago I had my first ultrasound, which showed I'm only 6 weeks pregnant with no heartbeat yet. Where did those 3 weeks go?? What scared me the most was the reaction of the midwife and her trainee!! As if something wasn't right! The size of the embryo does match the gestational sac. I don't really get the whole story about late ovulation and implantation either!! She didn't mention it, but I started googling it myself! Pffff, it makes me so unsure! Now none of the calculations match anymore!! I have to wait another 7 days for the next ultrasound and hope everything is okay and the little heart is beating!! -

Hey, yeah, I thought I was 8 weeks, and that's what they told me too, but on the ultrasound it was only 6 weeks. It's a bit of a mystery to me too, haha. -

Hi everyone,
I thought I was 8 weeks pregnant too, but because of the bleeding, I had to come in earlier last week, and it turned out I was only 6 weeks. The heartbeat was visible, and the baby is 6.5 mm now. I'm having another scan tomorrow due to previous miscarriages.
I'm trying to enjoy being pregnant, even though we're really nervous and anxious about whether everything is okay. xxxx -

Exactly the same thing happened to us. We were told to wait two weeks, and at the 20-week scan, there was only one baby... I'm now 26 weeks pregnant and everything is going well, so don't worry, girl!
