temazepam during pregnancy prenatal depression

I'm 21 weeks pregnant now and I'm really not feeling myself. I'm super sensitive and can get very angry, sad, or anxious at times. All in all, I can't really enjoy my second pregnancy. The experience from my first pregnancy, which wasn't fun from start to finish, is coming back with full intensity.

Now I've also gotten sleepless nights due to all the tension and stress, and I went to see my GP about it. I was given Temazepam for sleep. But I don't feel good about it either, since they are sleeping pills. Does anyone have experience with these medications during pregnancy? And is there anyone familiar with prenatal depression? (I don't know if I have it) and I don't dare to bring it up with the doctor either.

    @Wolkje 78,

    Sounds like a very sensible thing to do, since not doing it increases the chances of getting into deeper trouble later on... I have no experience with prenatal depression, but it sounds like you're heading in that direction, especially with the bad sleep... Anxiety is, by the way, not a very good advisor at all...

    Why not talk to your doctor? Do you have a bad doctor or unpleasant experiences with your doctor? Otherwise, discuss it first with your midwife or OB-GYN. But it seems wise anyway to talk it over with your husband, partner, or boyfriend...

    You shouldn't go around dealing with these kinds of emotions alone.
    Wishing you lots of strength and keep us posted..

    Best, Ju

    Hi Ju,
    My husband knows all about this stuff and is also pulling his hair out. Luckily, my little boy is calm, but I don't think it's all sinking in yet. I don't know what it is. I'm going to contact the hospital's social services again tomorrow, where I'd already been for my complaints, and they were supposed to refer me, but nothing has happened yet. And then I think, yeah, let them all just sit there.
    But I'm going to get on the phone early tomorrow and call the hospital, on my GP's advice too.
    Thanks again for your reply.

    @Wolkje78,
    Hey girl, stay strong and it's great that you have a man who understands you.
    Yeah girl, sometimes we just need to talk to someone else to get new insights.
    You can always send me a private message if you want to dive deeper into the matter. No problem.

    Love, Ju

    Since I also suffer from sleepless nights, I was also prescribed temazepam. I only use it when I've barely slept for a few days. I only got 3 tablets. Besides, I have the impression that it makes you calmer. As long as you don't use it too often, it can't harm the little one. Nothing is worse than not being able to sleep, especially during pregnancy!

    Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
