I’ve quit myself too, partly because of guilt, and both my GP and my OB-GYN tell me I should quit for myself, not for others! It’s better for your baby, but there are so many other factors! Being overweight, poor diet, being underweight, etc., are also super bad, but people don’t talk about them “that negatively.” Yeah, only when you do it for yourself can you quit without being stressed about it.

It gnawed at me for 2 days until I finally quit. It’s never too late! I keep telling myself that, so I don’t smoke anymore, and I do it every day. Then I don’t make it so final for myself, hehe.

Oh, I miss my salmon pistolet and super simple sliced sausage... But I'm leaving that for my baby

Good job, Roos! You're taking the words right out of my mouth! Smoking and secondhand smoking can't be ignored. There are no excuses for it.
Tamara, I wish you and your child all the strength...

Jessie, it would be the best if your partner also quit... it might make it a bit easier for you too.

Why would you... I DON'T SMOKE....!!!!

It’s all about willpower! That’s the most important thing. For me, it clicked when I started thinking about how smoking could harm my baby. It took me 2 years, and my pregnancy means everything to me. I smoked a total of 4 cigarettes, and I felt so guilty. I thought, “No, I’m not going to do this anymore!” I really want to make sure that if anything goes wrong, smoking is ruled out as a cause.

So, willpower (at least for me).

The hospital also has programs (at least in Groningen), and they seemed to work for me, even though I’m quite skeptical about those kinds of programs.

It costs €150, which makes you think twice about wasting your money on smoking again!

My boyfriend also wants to quit, and he doesn’t smoke around me. My mom doesn’t smoke either, and my friends go outside when they smoke. I told them it was hard for me to quit, and they understood. Now I’m always in a smoke-free environment. I even made my car smoke-free!

    Hope this helps you.

    Love and good luck!

That's the downside, not everyone has that strength... When I look at the father of my baby... he could barely stop smoking but then started smoking more even though he knows it's bad for him...
I've never smoked myself and my mom doesn't smoke either but I see with others that it really is difficult however much they want to quit and you don't even have to be pregnant or think about your little one because it's hard even like that... I tell myself not to judge anyone of course because I find it quite disgusting but even my aunt kept smoking while she had cancer and was at the end of her life and my other aunt smokes now that she has heart problems and feels much better because of it... sounds weird but it's not bad for everyone apparently because she hasn't had a heart attack for a year now due to smoking...

So if you look at it from multiple angles it's not always bad although I'm not saying it's not bad for a baby of course but I hope you understand what I mean

    Totally agree, Bertha!!

You can only quit if you really want to yourself.
I decided to stop right away because I was afraid it would go wrong again, but follow your gut feeling.
Cutting back is already good, and if not, take 2 cigarettes with you per day and eventually just 1, and that’s how you quit!

Did you manage to stop in the end?

Hi ladies, I haven't smoked for 1 day now and I have to say it's going well for me. But sometimes I do feel like smoking, then I eat a drop or something.

    Congratulations Jessie!

Not smoking for every day is a victory! Keep it up and you'll definitely make it. Have a little candy when you feel like having a cigarette!
  12. Betty #52

    Super Jessie, keep it up!

Here’s someone who also quit smoking, now 4 days completely smoke-free
Started with those Kent Infinas, really hard not to smoke, just took a few puffs when I really got stressed from not smoking (because stress isn’t good for the baby either!) and that helped me, and by 5 weeks I was completely off, maybe a good tip
And believe me, it works for me and I spend all day selling cigarettes and they’re just reaching for me, day in day out! Now I think to myself with each pack I sell, whoa that’s money I’ve saved instead of spending it on your daily pack Every day 5 euros in a jar now and when I give birth, those cents will be for my little one to spoil And stink, those people who smoke, bah, I used to have that smell following me around, I think to myself, bah

For every cigarette you light up, your baby barely gets any oxygen and has trouble developing organs and lungs, etc., etc. If that's not enough reason to quit...

Being addicted to smoking is tough. I used to smoke myself, but having a child who develops severe asthma because mom smoked during pregnancy is a lot worse. And yes, I still regret it to this day whenever Lara has to go to the hospital to get her oxygen levels topped up. Come on, girls, you're strong
  15. Dana #55

I started smoking when I was pregnant, but I didn't know I was pregnant yet, so I smoked for about a month into my pregnancy. Once I found out, I stopped right away
  16. LJ #56

I've been quit for over a month now... so proud of myself hihi... I can't even stand the smell anymore... bahbahbah. Hopefully it stays this way haha....
  17. Annemie #57
