Doula

Who has experience with a doula during pregnancy and birth? I'm seriously considering it because my husband travels a lot and, due to circumstances, I'm not sure if he'll be able to be there for the birth. I don't really want my mom there, but I've read some articles and experiences from women who had a doula, and I'm feeling really positive about it now.
Who has experience or tips?

    Hi Samira,
    Congratulations on your pregnancy!
It's great that you've heard positive things about the doula!
I also had a doula during my birth, and now I'm a doula myself.
For me, it was wonderful to have a doula by my side; I could relax better, and my partner felt calmer too. If you're looking for a doula, it's important that there's a good connection and that you (and your partner!) feel comfortable having her around. Depending on where you live, you often have several doulas to choose from, so take your time to find the one who fits you best. On www.nbvd.nl/zoek_een_doula1.html you can find doulas and their contact information (by region). Good luck with your decision, and wishing you a beautiful birth!

I had a really great experience with a doula and would recommend it to everyone. It's nice for the pregnant person, but also definitely for the partner!
