Strippen

Hey everyone,

this is the first time I'm posting something here but I'm dealing with a problem.
I'm 38 weeks and 4 days today. I went to the gynecologist this morning and she felt from below that I already had 1 cm dilation and has now stripped my membranes.
Now I have a lot of hard contractions and lower back pain. Do other women experience this after stripping?

Greetings, Eline

No experience with it, my daughters both came earlier than expected. My oldest was 2 weeks early and my youngest was 8 days early.
But according to my mother, who was induced because they had to pick her up, her blood pressure was too high.
According to her, it hurt quite a bit; she didn't find it pleasant.
My sister was born overdue, she was also already 9 pounds, very big, with a bunch of long toenails. She deliberately chose not to be induced, but to wait a bit longer until she came on her own, because my mother had a lot of pain with me that way.
But I heard that from her herself, so I don't know for sure.
    Greetings, Madelene

    Hey,

I had contractions here, then some mild ones. At 4 cm it stopped again, and the next day they induced labor.

It's possible that the contractions will pick up again or that they'll fade out again. I'd keep an eye on them, and if they get more intense or come every 4 to 5 minutes, give the midwife or the hospital a call.

These are signs of your labor, and it could very well be what you'll feel during your actual delivery. It was a bit like that for me too, only much more intense.
