Who has a positive story and is now pregnant with a healthy baby after a blighted ovum? Or already has a child...
Whoever you are, your story would help me so much!
Love, Jip

@jip,
I'm seeing this topic for the first time, I've heard about it before though.
But I really don't know, I'm just trying to enjoy..
Your pregnancy... I hope you get a quick answer
To your question about the unfertilized egg...

Hi!
I also had what they call a "windei" (blighted ovum). Or rather, an empty gestational sac. I personally think that sounds much better.
Try to enjoy this pregnancy as much as possible; you don't have any say in experiences or schedules. I completely understand your concerns. When is your first ultrasound scheduled?
Unfortunately, my story didn't end with the empty sac. But now I'm over 25 weeks pregnant and everything is going super well

A gest孕 sac is, to be honest.. just bad luck.. it can happen to anyone and you definitely don't have a higher chance of it happening again!
I also think the term 'wind egg' is really terrible! As if it's a 'joke' or something (that's how it comes across to me) I've luckily never had a miscarriage or anything, and now I'm pregnant with the 2nd, but a gest孕 sac was my biggest fear both times.. that you think you're just happily pregnant.. and then you go for the scan and see nothing.. terrible!
It'll be fine now!! In 7 months you'll have a beautiful baby in your arms!! -

Thanks for your replies, girls, and yes, I also think "windei" is such a terrible word, bah bah!
And I'm glad for your responses, I was just curious who after an empty gestational sac is now pregnant again...
It's just eating away at me, I don't feel much different than before, I just had more stomach cramps this time! I have my first ultrasound on Monday and I'm really dreading it, I'm so afraid that our dream will be shattered a second time!
I find it nice to read that you're pregnant now, beertje!!

Jip, that's so nice that you're allowed to have the ultrasound on Monday already! Fortunately, I don't recognize those intense nerves. I saw each pregnancy as a new beginning, and this time I just knew it would go well.
After three miscarriages, we took a break for a while. It was just too much for us. When I got pregnant with this baby, I wasn't scared at all during the first 12 weeks. That fear only came later. I didn't get any more ultrasounds; for me, it was just a moment of reassurance. I have very kind midwives—you just have to call them when you feel insecure, and they'll come over as soon as possible to check on you and listen to the baby's heartbeat. It's a bit like what Anna wrote—worrying about whether the baby is still alive. Now that I feel my baby every day and can play with them, that fear is gone. My midwife told me that there's nothing you can do about it now anyway. Everything is already set. Worrying is pointless; it feels so heavy, and enjoying the moment is much better.
Talk about it as much as you want. Get it out of your system and don't bottle it up. Even if your husband gets a bit annoyed with you, you just need that space. Try to enjoy this baby—it really deserves it. I can now look back on that sad period with lots of love.
Don't be surprised if, during this pregnancy, assuming everything will go well, you still feel very sad sometimes. You've been through a lot, and it has left its mark.
Big hug to you! Let me know tomorrow how it went? -

Well said, Beertje..
But I guess you were checked quite often in the beginning, I think? That probably saves you some 'stress' too... With my first, I only got my first ultrasound at 11 weeks.. So then you're in uncertainty for a long time whether there's actually a baby in there, and whether the little heart is beating.
But what you say is of course completely true, it goes as it goes, you can't prevent a miscarriage anyway, so there's no point in worrying about it.. well, that's the theory
haha, I said that to my friend when she was pregnant too.. but when I was in that situation myself, it felt different again! -

True, it's easier said than done. Still trying though
Yes, I had a few more ultrasounds during this pregnancy. Also to avoid having to wait so long if things weren't okay. If you don't feel right or are worrying too much, you can always ask to come in earlier.
Jip, lots of luck today! Sending you good vibes for a nice ultrasound!! -

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm feeling super super nervous right now.. ugh, what a bad feeling!
It feels like my dream could collapse again like a house of cards today.. still in the dark about it though.
But anyway, we're going for it, I feel better than last time!

Girl, just let it be. How late can you go for your ultrasound? Schedule your next ultrasound as early as possible so you don't have to spend the whole day in a state of nerves! Your own gut feeling tells you a lot! With this pregnancy, we both just knew it was fine, don't ask why, it was just different. -

Oh my goodness, what a relief here! We saw a beautiful beating heart!
First, they did an external ultrasound again, and the midwife didn't see anything on it. Fear gripped my heart, and I felt so unsure and scared... So they did an internal ultrasound, and yes, there was our little one, a beautiful beating heart!
She said the pregnancy looked perfect so far, the length was spot on, and the heart was beating quite strongly and regularly. She said it couldn't be better, so I'm holding on to that now, and I just feel that this really is our baby. This is going well!
Love, Jip
P.S.: Thanks for your kind words over the past few days; it really did me good, girls! -

Girl, what amazing news!!! So glad your little one is doing so well!!!
My OB did an ultrasound at 6 weeks and 3 days this pregnancy. She told me then that this pregnancy was going to go well. Exactly for those reasons, she didn't give you a follow-up visit. Everything matched the dates, and there was a good, strong heartbeat, and she said it couldn't be better. It's really something very positive! With your good feeling about it, it's really going to work out perfectly!!!
Now just enjoy and trust that it will end well!
When are you due for your next ultrasound? -

Hi ladies, after feeling like I was 7 weeks pregnant and an ultrasound technician who tried to convince me I was only 5 weeks... A few days ago I finally got confirmation that the gestational sac was empty.. For the past 3 days I've been bleeding heavily with a lot of abdominal pain.. I'm just inconsolable.. Does anyone have any tips on how to cope with this because I really feel alone.. I hope your pregnancies are going well!! -

Hey Manja
Wow, what you're going through right now! I went through it last year too... I ended up in the ER with contractions. I hope it doesn't come to that for you! I can only say: do what feels right for you and talk to your partner... He's probably struggling with this too. Support each other! We came out stronger in the end..
Mei, I wish you lots of strength!! -

Hi everyone,
Not much news here.
Had my ultrasound on Monday and yes... empty gestational sac.
Still no bleeding. So waiting until next Thursday.
Then they'll decide whether to give me some pills or do a D&C.
I really don't feel like it.
I still have pregnancy symptoms, which makes it hard to believe it's not going to happen as it should. -
Beertje #18
Sending you so much strength. Take all the time you need and talk it over with your husband. The symptoms can be really awful if things aren't progressing well. How many weeks are you at now?
Think carefully about what you want—a pill or a D&C if it doesn't start on its own. Do some research on it. I've consciously chosen for a D&C under general anesthesia twice. -

I should be 7.5 weeks now.
The gestational sac had grown and the hormone levels too.
My belly is bloated and my breasts are sore.
I'm not really keen on the D&C and hope for a spontaneous miscarriage. -

You're not that far along yet. Could it be that you're maybe less far along than you think? That happens sometimes.
