Having a baby at your own pace in the hospital

Yes, definitely! Our little boy had pooped in the amniotic fluid, so we gave birth in the hospital.

I really benefited from moving around, walking, a warm shower, and massage from my husband. He was born after 8 hours. I’d choose the hospital again for a second birth. If everything goes well, you’re home after a few hours.

As far as I know, you can do whatever you want at the hospital. Some hospitals even allow you to give birth in a birthing pool. If you're giving birth at the ZH under the guidance of your midwife, you can always discuss it with her. You can also visit the open days for the maternity wards. That way, you'll know where you'll end up.

Yes, you watch too much TLC Most people are flattened there. If a birth there lasts more than 8 hours, they already consider it quite long. Here in the Netherlands, those limits are really quite different. And the same goes for pain relief. Write down your questions and take them with you to your midwife or gynecologist.
