Birth photographer

I just read something about... a birth photographer. I'd never heard of it before, but my sister brought it up. She seemed into it, but honestly, the thought of a stranger with a camera between my legs makes me uncomfortable.

I totally get that the photos can be really tasteful and it's an amazing moment to capture, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

Would you consider having a photographer at your birth?

My husband wasn't even allowed to stand at the foot of my bed during the birth, let alone a photographer!!
But...looking back, it might have been really beautiful to have nice photos of such an overwhelming moment. Especially since you forget a lot of it due to the speed or intensity of childbirth. I wouldn't want everything captured on camera, but those first photos—like when you hold your baby for the first time—are truly beautiful and definitely worth preserving.
You can certainly make good agreements with the photographer about what you do and don't want photographed.
