crying time

dear moms,

our little boy has had his evening crying spell pretty much from the start, from around 8 to half past 10 in the evening. Other than that, he's a really cheerful little guy!
He lets himself be heard every now and then, but it's not a good sign if he doesn't let himself be heard.

They say more often what happens during the day comes out in the evening.
Or he sometimes just fights his sleep, but eventually gives in. Using a pacifier and rocking him to sleep works well once he's asleep.

I suspect it's often due to colic. It's so heartbreaking; you can really tell from the type of cry that he's in pain.
Then I walk around with him, soothe him, sometimes give him rooibos tea. I've tried everything.

When does your little one's evening crying spell end? What do you do about it? And how old is your little one?
Our little boy is now 10.5 weeks old.
He sleeps well, wakes up around 5 am for a feed, then again at 10 am, and then gets feeds at 2 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm.
5 times 150cc is 5 scoops. Previously he had a night feed, but that's not really needed anymore.

    Hi Irma

    Sounds so relatable!
Our son had that too, you could set your clock by it, but just giving in, it went away on its own here.
It can be tiring sometimes, but just like you say, they're actually processing the day, they're developing so fast!

    Good luck for now

    Greetings

    @Irma,

Sounds really tough, but you're already giving yourself the answers..
Your in-laws are very busy and interfere with everything...
It might just be some colic your little boy has..
Are you giving him some water in between as well???
It can be boiled, but it really depends on what you prefer; it can also come straight from the tap..
Some babies really need that extra fluid..
Our little boy also gets water in between, with a few drops of rose hip tea mixed in..

Love and strength to you with everything

Yeah, special tea or water in between, he only drinks it when he's really thirsty, hehe.
Because he doesn't make a cute face while drinking it, but he does drink it.

And he also has a bowel movement every day, so that's not an issue either.
    That's going fine.

Oh my, it's like you're talking about my mother-in-law, exactly right haha

It's tough sometimes, right? At the CB they told me to just take my baby with me, some people just need to let it out.

But I totally get that it's annoying when you keep hearing that he's just hungry... My mom just kept walking around normally when our little boy was crying like that. My mother-in-law would laugh and say "sorryyy" but that face... then it starts to tickle me and I'd rather take him out of her hands.

Hang in there, remember it'll pass!

Yeah, I have that tendency too but I do it too!
If I get the idea that they can't calm him down because they can't bear to watch, I say come to mama and I give him to them. Because I never let my little man cry for long, why would I? He's still so small?

I'm curious, I start working on September 1st, it'll be hard for me hihi
Monday afternoon my mother-in-law is babysitting, Wednesday my mother-in-law, and Friday my own mother again.

I've already had them bring him for an hour so we could go out for a bit, but then it's suddenly 6 hours hihih.

But anyway, despite the heat, he's doing great!
Can't do much staying home gerrum
Last night at 10 PM and then at 5 AM he showed up, and then not again until 10 AM, and since then every 4 hours, and he has water in between since he wants to drink.

And how did it go last night?
What is it so hot, huh? Geez, poor little ones!
He sleeps a lot, is that the case with you too?
Otherwise, he doesn't seem to have much trouble with the heat. Already had a nice bath and just had a nice cuddle. He's such a smiley face

Here it's actually been very good again. At 22:00, then 05:00, then 10:00. From then on, every 4 hours, and in between I give water if necessary. He doesn't really like it, but he drinks it anyway, which is a sign of extra fluids needed in this heat. So I do get to those 5 feeds per day.

    At 22:00, then +/- 05:00, then at 10:00, then 14:00, 18:00, and then 22:00.
