For my first pregnancy, we invited our parents to see our blueprints. As is customary, we offered everyone a glass of cava. Each glass had a personal message: This glass is from... mom, my name, grandma, and name...
For our first pregnancy, we told the siblings during the Christmas season. We had decorated the Christmas tree with all kinds of baby stuff (little shoes, pacifiers, tiny baby dolls, clear Christmas baubles with pink and blue mice). Naturally, we also hung the ultrasound image in there (at eye level).
For my parents, we bought an Anne Geddes calendar. For each month, we wrote down 2 or 3 dates with milestones and facts about the pregnancy (1 cm big, little hands and feet starting to form, 150 heartbeats per minute, baby getting fingerprints, and of course, the due date).
My dad didn't catch on. He flipped through the calendar a few times. His reaction: cute, we already have a calendar..... My mom got it right away!
For my girlfriend, I bought a box of cream puffs. I took the puffs out and hid little blue and pink mice inside with long fingers. I sealed the packaging neatly so it wouldn't stand out. That's how I visited her. It got a bit tense because she was on a diet.
Hi hi,
I'm six weeks and three days pregnant, with my first one too. It's all so exciting.
I'm going to tell my parents and in-laws that I'm pregnant by doing the following:
I'm making a photo book (like those digital photo books I make for all our faraway trips). Somewhere in between, I'll include a subtle photo (not sure exactly what yet—maybe our shoes and baby shoes in there, or cookies with mice).
Our baby was conceived during this vacation in Borneo, so it seemed like a nice idea.
We’re going to announce it next Tuesday. I made a "to do" list (1.20m x0.50m) and my 2.5-year-old daughter is going to take a photo with a framed ultrasound image of it
