We put a pacifier with "I love grandma and grandpa" in a little hat for the first one, then went for coffee with a pastry hihihi was really fun.
And this time everyone was together, a photo was taken, and then we said (name) is pregnant and filmed instead of taking a photo hihi really successful, lovely memory
Such a fun topic! I've already seen a few cute ideas. I want to take a nice photo where you can see that we're expecting, but I'm not sure exactly what yet. For our parents, I think the Dutch "beschuit met muisjes" (rice paper-covered aniseed biscuits) would also be really cute, or maybe bring a cake decorated with muisjes and have them visit without suspecting anything until they find out.
We told them using ring boxes (V&D) with a grain of rice inside and a little poem attached. The poem had 4 lines and was tailored to the person we gave it to. We're not really poets, but we managed to pull it off!
With some of them, it took a while before they got it..
My little boy is getting a t-shirt with: every superhero needs a helper. Mine is coming in January 2016. The shirt has a picture of a Superman kid. Saw it on Pinterest. I think the English version is nicer, but then my in-laws won't get it. Hihu
I'm going to tell my parents tonight. Last week we told my in-laws. My boyfriend made a toast and said: 'To you becoming grandma and grandpa for the 5th time!' They had no idea at all, didn't know I had stopped the pill, and we just got back from a world trip, so they were super surprised! His mom hugged me right away, not even my own mom haha, she felt almost passed over!
So tonight it's my parents' turn... I have a little plate with 'abuela' on it, which is Spanish for grandma. After my grandma passed away, I got to keep this. I want to give it to my mom now, since she's becoming a grandma. I hope she understands, my step-sister also gave birth this week, so maybe she'll misinterpret it! I'm curious...
Yes, so lovely! My mom was in tears, and my stepdad was all emo about it all weekend, haha! He's 15 years older than my mom and loves it so much, all those little ones! My stepsister gave birth to a daughter last week, so that news was still fresh too. One big happy family!
I haven't carried out my plan yet, we're going to the midwife on July 3rd and will do it after that! Looking forward to the appointment! Then it'll be much clearer.
What fun ideas I'm seeing everywhere! But what's a nice way to tell everyone? We live in a small village where people love to chat, and the news is already spreading through the village. So we'd like to announce it ourselves after the ultrasound tomorrow, before everyone hears it via the grapevine. How would you all announce it?
Hi mamas! With our first baby, we wrote a cover letter for the grandparents. It was a letter from our baby, looking for grandparents. We have our own business and told the grandparents we had received a cover letter and that they needed to read it because it was something unusual. It worked out really well. Now I'm pregnant again and want our 3-year-old daughter to tell them. She can go shopping to buy two pajamas: one for her doll and one for Mama's baby. Then I want her to make a video presenting the news. She can say she went shopping and bought a pajama for her baby doll and for Mama's baby. Then send it to the grandparents and see how long it takes for someone to get it. Our daughter has a lot of imagination and often says there are babies in her tummy. Hopefully, my plan works out, and hopefully, you all find a fun way to share the news. Good luck!
What we did at my parents' place was give kids' champagne right after New Year's Eve, with the announcement that we'd hit the jackpot. It took a moment for the penny to drop, but it was really fun.
I gave my mom a jewelry box with a raisin inside and a note saying: "I'm this big now." And for my dad, we gave a bottle of wine with a label that said: "For Grandpa!"
For my mother-in-law, we put a picture of the pregnancy test in a frame, and for my father-in-law (they're divorced), we attached a pacifier and a little shirt to the dog's collar and sent it inside. Everyone was pleasantly surprised and got a really nice Sinterklaas gift.
Our little boy is now 12 months old, and we're already working on number two
