When did you get your period again after giving birth?

Hi ladies,

I’ve got a quick question for the other mums who gave birth about 2 months ago. I delivered on Jan 16th and had a tiny bit of bleeding after 38 days, but I wouldn’t say it was a proper period. Now it’s been another 15 days and still nothing.

How’s it been for you? Do you have any idea when it might come, or is it really that different for everyone?

    Thank you, Daphne, for your reply. I lost a little bit of blood after 38 days, but now I have absolutely nothing. I don't understand it at all.

    I gave birth 6 months ago and still haven't had my period. Well, I'm breastfeeding, so that's why!

    Hi, my little girl is now 12 weeks and 4 days old, and I still haven't gotten my period...

    I had bleeding at 9w5 after giving birth, then immediately got my regular period. But I have to say, I've never had such a heavy period before... it was so messy, hihi.

    I only got my period again after 3 months. I'm not breastfeeding.

    My little lady is almost a year old and I still give her breast milk from time to time, but I haven't gotten my period yet... Sometimes I do worry if I might be pregnant again :$

    But on the other hand, it also has a lot of positives, because I totally miss it!!!

    Got my period yesterday, 6 weeks and 6 days postpartum terrible abdominal pain... but better than labor contractions hihi

    Hi,

    There’s exactly 10 months between my boys. Our second son was a bit of a surprise, but that doesn’t make him any less welcome.
    My rules didn’t hold up either, and after a week of being scared, we took a test. Within a few seconds, it already showed two thick lines. At that moment, I didn’t know what to think—I’d just become a mom and wasn’t sure if I was ready to do it all over again. But after a proper talk with the gynecologist, we decided to go ahead with the pregnancy.
    I couldn’t imagine missing out on my boys, and they mean so much to each other!

    Hi, I gave birth to my daughter 4.5 months ago and I’m still not having my period. I’m formula feeding. I find it kind of weird.. How is this possible? My husband and I have been intimate again but always protected.. X

    13 months old; I breastfed on demand until 11 months and then weaned quickly down to 2x/day. That apparently gave my cycle the push it needed (though it still took until after the breastfeeding period – stopped at 1.5 years – before it was completely normal again and I got pregnant).

    Eline, I don't think it's very strange if it takes this long. It really depends on how your body handles disruptions to your cycle. And pregnancy can certainly be called a disruption to your cycle For example, if you sometimes go a long time without a period after stopping the pill (it took half a year here once...), then your body apparently just needs a bit of extra time to get everything back on track.

    I have three kids, all exclusively breastfed, and all got their period 'already' after three months. Really different, huh

    After 4 weeks ;( and just gave breast milk, unfortunately that doesn't help everyone.

    For me, it took quite a while, probably due to breastfeeding I think. My period came back about 5 months after giving birth, that was with my first one. For the second, I don't remember anymore.
