I have a question.
I'm now under medical supervision at the hospital, and we're being passed around like a hot potato by all the medical assistants we talk to. Everything needs to be constantly rechecked, things are communicated incorrectly, and they come back to it later. I don't mind this during check-ups because these people are still learning their profession.
But is it possible, and would it be weird, if I didn't want any medical assistants or co-assistants during the delivery?

Hi Renate, why would it be weird... if you want that, they'll respect it too, okay!

Here it's exactly the same. I once had an intern who took the ultrasound pictures of our girl (not a nice scan at all, no explanation, dad wasn't involved, nothing...)

So we mentioned this afterwards to the OB-GYN, and she was really not up for it...

I also have a friend who works at the ZH where I'm going to give birth; she's a midwife, and I can call her any time of day to come along or if she's there... and I asked if this was allowed, and it was no problem at all. They said, even though you have the luck of having a private midwife (so the others have more time for the other pregnant and birthing women), I also immediately made it clear that I absolutely don't want anyone else in the delivery room than my midwife, the OB-GYN, and possibly the pediatrician if necessary! But absolutely no students or assistants!!

I want to feel comfortable above all, and with the people I have now like my midwife and OB-GYN, I feel at ease! And I don't feel that at all with students or assistants! And they were going to take that into account!

It's important that you feel comfortable, that way you can also relax more easily, right!

So also mention briefly to the OB-GYN that you don't want any assistants during the birth!

    Love

Not weird at all, and you have every right to mention this to your doctor. If you don't feel comfortable with it, definitely don't allow it. It's important that you can relax during your birth!
