How do you experience your pregnancy on your own? Do you involve other people (family/friends) or do you really do it all by yourself?

I'm not doing it alone, but sometimes I feel like I'm on my own. My husband is so often at work, and I really feel like I'm becoming a bit lonely.

I felt the same with our first... it's really hard then. My husband worked a lot back then too, but now with the second, I'm in a different place. My husband still works a lot, but when he comes home, he's truly there for our daughter. I'd rather have that than him just being involved during the 9 months of pregnancy... but it's still tough! Men are just different in how they handle it.

When I was pregnant, the father didn't want anything to do with it, so I was "alone" in it. Luckily, I had a lot of support from family. After my son was born, I moved into a women's house. Only women lived there who were in a similar situation. I did a lot of activities with my son (swimming lessons, music lessons, etc.). That way, I met a lot of people. When my son was six months old, I met my boyfriend. He supported us a lot and still does. It's been three years now, we're still together, and we're expecting our second child in December

I'm doing this on my own and have lots of support from friends and family. I shouldn't complain, and I'm already looking forward to my little girl! My sister and mom always come with me to the ultrasounds and appointments with the gynecologist.

    Ladies,

It seems really tough if you're going through it alone. It's a period of major physical and especially emotional changes. I truly have deep respect for you all.

    Love,

I'm not completely alone, but kind of. My husband is still living abroad right now...
So unfortunately, I am alone in the Netherlands right now... And it's really lonely sometimes!
But well, luckily I still have the prospect of a little family together with the father; it would be so hard to do it completely alone!

Hi, I'm doing this all on my own too. But it's a choice I've made very consciously.
I also have a lovely sister and a mom who come with me to the midwife and where I can talk freely about all my ailments and hormonal ups and downs.
They'll both be there when I give birth. I find that so special.
Even though I'm very happy and this is a very conscious choice, I sometimes miss having a man by my side to share this beautiful and sometimes intense time with me. But I also have to admit that I love not having to discuss things like, say, the name or the birth announcements, etc.

    :-D

    Hi there,
My (ex) boyfriend and I didn't consciously choose to have a child, but I ended up getting pregnant anyway.
For the first two weeks, he was happy and enthusiastic,
but after a disagreement, he packed his stuff and left...
Fortunately, I have many good friends around me who really support me and are just as happy about the arrival of my baby...
But yes, now I have to do it all on my own... the name, etc. ...
And honestly, I'm glad that I don't have to discuss anything with anyone.

I'm pregnant on my own, but it's not necessarily harder than with a partner. (It depends on whether you choose to do it yourself or not.)
I get a lot of support from my parents and sister, and to be honest, I don't miss having a partner.

    Hi,

Well, because of the distance between us (60 km = 120 km round trip!), I sometimes miss having a warm arm around me, someone who's there for you. Luckily, my parents and older brother are there for me, but that's still different from having your loved one by your side... so much is happening to your body, and all for the first time, right? ;-)

But sometimes I do enjoy it too, doing my own thing, taking a nap without anyone giving or having an opinion, etc. etc. etc.

    Hi Nancy,

I did the first 2 pregnancies alone. Now the 3rd is on its way, and I'm not doing it alone, and that's really nice.
I can only say that I became a strong woman through the first 2 pregnancies, and I know that being alone is just being alone, but bear in mind that for you, there will also come a time when you won't be facing it alone.

These are tough times, but maybe you have nice friends who can support you. Stay tough, girl, and you can always email me. I promise I'll reply. ;-)

    Greetings, Ju

Here too, just pregnant with my fourth baby, and everything is going its own sweet way
  13. Olivia-Anna #14

Actually (for those who do this) you're never alone!!!
I just stayed at friends' place for a week because I had a little spat with my husband (I was seriously scared that I'd end up alone for a long time)
but I wasn't alone at all!!!

I feel like my little one understood, I was busy with her the whole time and felt every movement and our bond has grown so much it was really enjoyable despite the worries!!
    So you're really not "alone"

Still, I'm glad our problems are resolved and we're moving forward together..

    So I hope for everyone,
whether you share this "alone" or together with a partner/family/friends
    you enjoy it fully!!

What sweet responses. And indeed Olivia-Anna, you're right... I enjoy every day and every moment of this pregnancy... maybe because I'm alone with the little one, all to myself. My full attention is indeed already almost 9 months focused on myself, very intense. And I hadn't looked at it like that before. :-) Thnx!

    @Wen,
It doesn’t matter how you do it as long as it feels right for you.
Time will show how everything turns out. I’m glad you have support from your sister and your mom.

    Love, Ju

I'm doing it all by myself
  17. ikbengraagalleen Guest #18

Well, you still have family and friends. I’m really completely on my own and I’ll manage too!
  18. * #19

    @ikbengraagalleen,

That might just be a choice...
You don’t have to be alone if you don’t want to be...

    Hi,

I'm 21 and 10 weeks pregnant, unplanned because I missed my pill. I'd been with my boyfriend for 7 months, but he wanted me to have an abortion. Since I couldn't bring myself to do that, he ended things. I barely have any support from family or friends, and I feel completely lost...
