Painful contractions

Hi everyone,
I haven't been able to sleep for 2 nights now because of the intense contractions, which come every 6/7 minutes.. I sometimes really have to focus on my breathing. They don't go away with a shower or paracetamol. In the afternoon, they're less intense.
Does anyone recognize this? How long did this last before labor progressed? If it's already hurting this much now.. how will it feel later on..

Love,

I’d give your OB-GYN or midwife a call if I were you!

How many weeks pregnant are you?

Do they also happen during the day? Contractions can last for weeks, luckily they're not saying anything about real labor contractions.

I don't know if it's possible, but take a day off work and stay in bed. Just do as little as possible for a day.

If you don't feel confident and can't push for an appointment anymore.

Oh, one more question for you. How long does a contraction last?

I'm exactly 40 weeks pregnant now, so things are definitely starting to stir. A contraction lasts on average 50 seconds to 1 minute. During the day there are also some, but much less frequent, I'd guess every 20 minutes or so.
It's just so scary that this already hurts so much, while the 'real' contractions haven't even started yet!

Then think about pre-labor contractions. Hopefully they do something for you, like helping with dilation or something.

As for the pain, don't dwell on it too much. When you really go into labor, your body produces hormones. Your mind goes into labor mode, and you can handle much more.

With my youngest, I had hours of pre-labor contractions that I really didn't enjoy. But once they progressed to real contractions, they were quite manageable.

Just lost my mucus plug, cramps are the same. Wondering when it'll really kick in. 3 nights with almost no sleep, not doing me any favors haha.

The contractions are definitely doing something. Hopefully, it kicks into gear soon. Try to catch some sleep during the day.
