Back pain as early labor pain???

Hello everyone! I'm now 37 weeks and 5 days pregnant, and this morning I suddenly had really severe pain at the bottom of my back, and after about 2 minutes it went away again... That happened about 3 or 4 times in half an hour. After that, it stayed away all day, and now it's starting to come back lightly in waves again. Are these back contractions, and can they actually come as early labor, or is that completely impossible and is it just back pain?

Love, Manon

    @Manon,

It could be practice contractions, but these are definitely warning signs. If you don't feel right, call your gynecologist or midwife. Let us know how it goes.

That sounds exciting!! It could indeed be back labor, but also practice contractions.. Have they gotten more intense by now?

I've had something similar for about 3 days.
But I feel it more like pressure, not really pain yet.
And indeed, it also comes and goes, doesn't matter if I'm standing, sitting or lying down..
    Do you have that too??

Last night it came a few times lightly. I was just lying there comfortably asleep when I got 3 contractions that weren't so light (quite painful) and woke me up! After that, my belly was also very hard, but that's becoming less now. They'll probably be practice contractions then, but I didn't know you could feel those in your back too. It really doesn't matter if you're standing, sitting or lying down, and when they happen I can hardly move anymore, I press really hard on the spot where it hurts and then it eases off after a while.. I'll keep a good eye on it, if it suddenly happens very often I'll of course call the gynecologist, but I don't think it's really going to set in.. I hope it will though because his head is a bit big and if he comes now I'm sure his head won't grow any bigger haha! (probably won't make much difference anyway) love, Manon

I think I had this too on 11/14. First, they did all sorts of tests to see if I was having any dilation contractions. Luckily, I didn’t, but they kept me overnight just to be safe. Since I was only 33 weeks pregnant, it was pretty scary!!

I had a really fast delivery with my daughters. The first one took 5 hours total, but it started with really bad back labor. I basically only felt the contractions in my back. It was awful. I think back labor is much more intense than abdominal labor.

With me, it was actually the same day I went into labor, so I wouldn't dare say if it's contractions for you.

    Hi.

    I have a question.
I'm exactly 38 weeks pregnant and have had so much lower back pain since before dinner.???? It comes for 1 min and then returns after 16 min, and it's been like this for an hour!
This pain is just not fun.

Are these false labor or real back labor because it has a pattern.

    Greetings

I've had back labor with both of my pregnancies.
Hope I don't get it again with the third one.
But I've never had contractions before.
    Not sure if that's common?
I'm really scared of having back labor again with this delivery.
I find them much harder to cope with than regular contractions.

    hey!

i'm exactly 33 weeks today and since sunday i've been having a lot of back pain.
it started in my sleep, i woke up from it, it hurt a lot but it felt like a constant pain. since yesterday i've been keeping track of when it hurts and when it doesn't, for me it hurts really bad for about 10 min and then it's gone for half an hour, and last night i woke up again with really bad pain and nausea.. and now around 2 o'clock the pain started again, does anyone know what this is?...
