Baby wish
painful cramps one week after ovulation
Hello!
My name is Charlene. 23 years old.
We've been trying for a baby since December. I have a very irregular cycle. I hadn't had a period from July 2017 to December 2018. I had a copper IUD, but the gynecologist said it couldn't be the cause. So from December to April we tried naturally, but it wasn't going well. After trying Clomid for two months, we ended up at the fertility clinic. Since May, we've been doing daily Menopur injections, and when the egg reaches a nice 23mm, we get a Pregnyl shot to trigger ovulation, and then I insert Utrogestan 3 times a day after ovulation. Every month brings the same disappointment. Although I try not to get my hopes up too high, it still hurts so much when the test is negative again on the day I'm allowed to test. Then I stop the Utrogestan, and a day later, my period arrives. But this month feels different. I don't want to drive myself crazy and try to think about it as little as possible, but there's still a tiny spark of hope. Last Monday, 26-08-2019, I ovulated, and since yesterday I've had occasional sharp stabs of pain in my lower abdomen, exactly like a needle going in and out. Sometimes nothing for hours, then suddenly the stabs are back. It's like period pain, but less severe. My period isn't due until next Monday, 09/09/2019. (If it's negative again, we'll start intrauterine insemination next month, so yes, it's frustrating.
I also can't test earlier than 09/09/2019 because the Pregnyl contains the HCG hormone, which can cause false positive results. This stays in my blood and urine for about 14 days, so it's very frustrating. According to the fertility doctor, we only have an 18% chance of pregnancy each month. You might think, wow, that's low, but it's actually not bad if you know that someone with a normal cycle also only has a 20-25% chance each month.
So what I wanted to ask is if anyone else is in the same boat as me, has experienced the same thing, the same stabs exactly a week after ovulation, and can someone explain what this could be? Because I've never had this in all the months we've been trying.
Lots of love
Charlene
