Tummy cramps

I'm 6.5 weeks pregnant and have had some pretty sharp stabs in my lower belly a few times a day for about 1.5 weeks now.
Sometimes I need to go to the toilet, but not always.
I don't know if this is normal and hope everything is okay.
Has anyone else experienced this during pregnancy?

Sounds familiar. In the beginning, your intestines are really rumbling because they need to make room for the growing uterus!

Totally normal, girl, that's your uterus growing. A lot is happening in there. I also checked every time I went to the toilet if I wasn't bleeding, but looked at 14 weeks and everything was fine. Good luck and congratulations.

Okay, good, that puts my mind at ease a bit

I've also had this for 3 weeks now. Before, I had heavy (very heavy) menstrual cramps in my lower abdomen and back. It happens 1 to 3 times a day, and then I'm really out for about 10 minutes.
I'm so scared that it's beyond what's normal that I'd actually like to go to the gynecologist this week to get this checked. What do you all think? Am I panicking too soon?

I had that too, usually for about 10 minutes. Once I was in the car (my partner was driving) and couldn't say anything for 10 minutes because of the pain.
I'm now 10 weeks 3 days and everything is completely fine????
    So it was all normal.
But yeah, I can't say for sure that the pain you're experiencing has the same cause, but it seems similar.

Absolutely so relatable, our stories... ended up in the ER yesterday due to the severe pain. Everything is indeed fine with the baby, but the intestines and uterus don't get along and are fighting over space. Result: both cramps completely overlapping. Painkillers helped today, thankfully, because eventually, I couldn't function anymore. When did they stop for you??

    Oh, that's not great news
Luckily everything is fine with your baby and you have painkillers.

I can't say for sure when it stopped, if you have it it's really unpleasant but if it's gone you've forgotten about it haha.
But I think it stopped around 2-3 weeks ago.
So I think it stopped from around 8 weeks onwards.
Hopefully it doesn't last too long for you either!

I'm already starting to count down but yeah, the shock is gone now, and that's already a lot!

    Hi,

Yeah, those cramps are familiar. I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Apparently it's round ligament pain. ..growing uterus.

I'm 19 weeks now and still getting occasional round ligament pain
  11. Lis #12

No, bandenpijn is something else, I was told in the hospital, and especially milder????

How are you doing now, Lis?
  13. Lis #14

They stopped suddenly 4 days ago! Around the same time the heartbeat started. Weird, I know, but good that I'm off the painkillers...
  14. Mila Guest #15

That's really good news then, so the scare is over and you can enjoy it now?
  15. Lis #16

Yes, it is! But it does seem strange that almost no one here seems to have this issue. But every pregnancy is different, right?
    Back to positive!

Lis, I found that strange too. My girlfriends didn't have any issues with it.
Well, I had my 12-week ultrasound this morning and everything was fine, so it must have been normal after all? ???
  17. Mila Guest #18

Nice, Linda! Fun to take a look, right?
  18. Lindaa1989 started this #19

Yes, it was really nice and reassuring.
I had no symptoms at all, so I was a bit worried, but no need to worry after all

Have you already had the NIPT test? That's what I'm still a bit scared of, especially combined with those cramps. Maybe my body wanted to lose the baby because something was "wrong"? Anyway, I'm feeling much more at ease now. The cramps have stopped, and if the little one has already gotten through this okay, then they'll be strong enough, I hope!
Besides being extremely tired and having no appetite, I don't have any other symptoms either.
