C-section tomorrow and terrified

Hi everyone,

Given the time I'm posting this... I have to report for a C-section (tomorrow) this morning.. And I'm exhausted from nerves and really, truly scared of the fact that they're going to cut into me while I'm awake.

This doesn't help, of course, that I have prenatal depression and am already very anxious as a result.
Everything is clear to me, all my questions have been answered. But who can take away my fear?

With the first one, I had an epidural during the natural birth. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I mainly felt very drunk in my head, but the pain didn't lessen at all. Now I know that this is a different kind of epidural. Anyway.. I'm terrified..

    Hi Janice,

Try to keep reminding yourself that in a few hours you'll have your second little one in your arms!
I wish you a good delivery (since it's a C-section, of course!), a speedy recovery, and a beautiful meeting with your baby!

Wow, that's so special, right, that you know exactly when your baby is going to be born. I had a planned C-section two months ago and was really nervous too!! It all went by so fast and it doesn't hurt anyway.
At one point I didn't feel well either, but the midwives did a great job distracting me. Honestly, I was even more scared of a natural birth because of all the things that could happen! It'll be fine. Good luck and ENJOY!

You're probably already enjoying your little one! I had an emergency C-section with a spinal block exactly 6 weeks ago and I thought it was amazing! It was really a celebration in the OR, the birth of our daughter. I was looked after excellently before, during, and after the operation. Recovery was also surprisingly easy. The C-section was on Wednesday night, they left the spinal catheter in on Thursday so I was a bit nervous when they took it out on Friday, but after I showered, I felt so good that I bathed our girl myself. I could then get in and out of bed comfortably, and went home the next day. All the visitors were amazed at how fit I was (and asked if I shouldn't get into bed, but I preferred to stay comfortably on the couch). It was really a very positive experience for me, even though it wasn't the birth we had planned. I'd do it again (and maybe I will for a next one ;-)). Let the staff know how you feel and let them take good care of you. Of course, every C-section is different, but here's definitely an example of a positive experience!!
