General anesthesia, detached placenta

Danielle
Hi! Gave birth last Monday.
Quick summary:
3 hours of pain, 4 hours with the midwife, heavy bleeding and severe pain, ambulance, lots of panic, taken to the OR, emergency C-section under general anesthesia. An hour later he was on my chest. My placenta detached.
This is my third child, previous births were normal. I'm really worried about the bond between me and my little man.
Is there anyone who is further along now, who went through something similar, who can reassure me?

    Hi Daniëlle,
That's really tough that you also had an emergency C-section. I had one with my first child too. What you say about that bond, I totally relate to! Honestly, they could have put someone else's baby on my chest and I would have believed it... really unsettling.

But don't worry! It took me max 2-3 weeks, if not less, and I really felt like his mom. After that, both physically and mentally I started feeling better. He's three now, and neither I nor he know any different. I don't know if you're breastfeeding, but that helps too!

It'll all work out! Enjoy! Lots of love
