Pregnant and blood thinners (Clexane)

hi hi
I'm new to this forum and have a question.
I'm currently 36 weeks and 2 days pregnant and need to use blood thinners (I have Factor V Leiden and have had thrombosis in the past).
I used to inject Fragmin, but recently I had to switch to injecting Clexane twice a day (so that it stays in the blood for less time in case I start having contractions).
Are there any other people here who have injected blood thinners? I'm curious what was agreed upon regarding your delivery. Of course, I'm allowed to give birth, and the doctor says I should stop injecting as soon as the contractions start. Any others with this experience?
Or how did your delivery go regarding the blood thinner protocol?
I can't have an epidural within 24 hours, but there are other options for pain relief.
Looking forward to hearing your responses And how your deliveries went.
Love,

    Hi there!

I gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy 5 weeks ago. I also have Factor V Leiden and had a blood clot years ago. I had to inject Clexane once a day throughout my pregnancy and am still doing it now (until 6 weeks postpartum).

I was induced, so they naturally planned for me to skip my Clexane dose the evening before and the day of. But they told me to just stop injecting once my contractions started. It only stays in your blood for max 8 hours, so by the time you actually go into labor, you can safely get an epidural.

I also had an epidural, and everything went really well with no complications. After the birth, they came to give me my injection when I needed to start again. I gave birth at 12:02, and that evening I already got my blood thinners back.

Hope this puts your mind at ease a bit, because I also wasn't sure what to expect, but don't worry!!

    Cheers!

    Hi,
I'm pregnant unexpectedly and I was taking Xarelto (blood thinners). Could this be harmful to the fetus?
    Thanks in advance,
    Cindy
