    Super fun!

I just replied above with "superleuk!"
Addition: I think this name might cause some confusion. Imagine if she ever gets into a relationship and the person calls her by her sister's name. You'd have to explain at times that you're not her sister but her partner... Still, I think it's a nice name.

    I really don't think it's a name, sorry!

I know someone who has a family member named Zus. She’s also called Aunt Zus. It sounds totally normal to them.

Personally, I don’t think it’s very modern, and partly because of that, it’s very prone to confusion (as already mentioned, “I’m dating Zus” just sounds… not great, but also “I’m Zus”… no, not like you’re a sister, but your name!) and especially bullying… kids nowadays are ruthless.

Zuz can work, for example, but the pronunciation stays the same.

I really, really, really like him.

Nope, I love original or old-fashioned names, but this one is a step too far for me.

Yeah, it used to be a name you heard a lot, especially in big families. For example, our dad had an aunt who was called "zus" (sister). But her actual name wasn't "zus." This was because they often had the same first names/baptismal names. If there were, say, two or three Annies, they'd just call one of them "zus," and that stuck as they got older.

Of course, there are also people who were actually named that.

If you think it's pretty, go for it. It's not really my thing, though. But definitely better than Meis because of the name's history.

Sorry, but I'm curious now. What's the history of the name Meis? What's wrong with it? I really have no idea, honestly.

I mean the name "Zus". "Meis" is just an abbreviation for "meisje" (girl). Or just among friends... "Hey Meis, how are you doing?"
Although in our area, "Meis" (pronounced like "maize" was also used among friends as an abbreviation for Marjolein.

So I don't consider it a name either.
    To each their own...

But then you'd have to call your brother Goos/Gooz (gozer), I guess.

Maybe a bit late, but I really like the name Zus! It's such a cute, sweet, and also tough-sounding name!
