Hello ladies!
I woke up last night with menstrual cramps and a hard belly! While wiping, I kept seeing light pink discharge, and once there was even a streak of blood in the toilet! I know it's not amniotic fluid, but I'm wondering if this is the start of labor? The cramps went away after 7:00 AM this morning, so no contractions.. anyone has experience with this? What can I expect? The baby was really active last night!

By the way, I'll be 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow.

Maybe it's the mucus plug coming out? That can also come with some bloody discharge. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it's not a whole bloody mess, because if it is, I'd call your doctor. By the way, even after losing the mucus plug, it can still take a week before you give birth.. so exciting!

I had that too at 7:30 in the morning. I gave birth at 5 o'clock.

This looks a lot like the mucus plug with some old blood mixed in..

Yeah, that's right, old blood looks like that, but how can I have been losing light pink blood all night? Would it still take long until labor starts? 39 weeks pregnant, super nervous hihi

Ooh exciting! It's kind of weird, yeah, first pink then brown... the other way around you'd say the old blood is out and the pink comes from within or something like that? I haven't lost anything yet so unfortunately I can't help you

You can always call your midwife for advice; if all goes well, they have a 24/7 number.
Unfortunately, I didn’t lose my mucus plug beforehand, so I can’t help with that. But I do know that losing the mucus plug doesn’t necessarily mean your labor will start anytime soon.

Just call your boyfriend. Better safe than sorry. Good luck with the last few tasks

Hi Ingeborg, how are you doing now with your birth preparation course?

Hi ladies! Scary, right? Losing blood... If you're losing blood, it's a very normal progression if it starts out pink, possibly turns bright red afterward, and ends with brown. Pink and red mean there's active bleeding, while brown means it has stopped but your body is still cleaning up. So brown after pink or red is good. Some bleeding can be normal during pregnancy. Your cervix is much more vascular, so if you're cold, lifted something heavy, or had sex, it's possible you might lose a little blood. A loss the size of a two-euro coin can be normal. Are you unsure about the amount? Call your midwife!
