3rd C-section or natural birth

Hi ladies,

I'm now just over 9 weeks pregnant with baby #3. My first two were born via planned C-section due to breech position and low birth weight. My husband and I really wanted a third child but put it off for a long time because I was really dreading another C-section. In the end, I got over my fears and we went for it.

But now, to my great surprise, my midwife suggested that I could still have a vaginal birth! I'm not really feeling this at all, even though I felt differently before. After my youngest son was born three years ago, I was told that a vaginal birth would be unthinkable due to the high risks, and now suddenly it's "allowed."

I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with this?

I actually had my second baby vaginally, even though my first was a C-section. But I always thought that with two previous C-sections, you’re not allowed to have a vaginal birth anymore.
But don’t you automatically have a medically assisted delivery if you’ve had two C-sections in the past? I assume the hospital has its own opinion on this too.

I think they’ve become a bit easier with that now. Before, you were only allowed a maximum of 3 C-sections, and then it was basically over for having more kids. Now, the gynecologist told me that with today’s technology, you can have up to 6 C-sections.

I think the midwife is suggesting that you could still have a vaginal birth because it was due to the breech position that required the C-sections, not because of your pelvis, for example.

I had a natural birth last August. Two years ago, I had an emergency C-section because my oldest was a breech baby, and after 16 hours of contractions and 2 hours of pushing, I wasn’t progressing further. I was given the choice between a C-section or a natural birth. I really hesitated, especially since my youngest was also in a breech position at 37 weeks. At that point, I thought, I’ll just do what I can and try it naturally. This time, I gave birth vaginally in 23 minutes, and wow, what a world of difference! I’d totally do it again. I’m just trying to tell you to do what feels right for you. I only had occasional discomfort from the scar during pregnancy, and nothing else. They’ll keep a close eye on you anyway and step in immediately if needed.
