Second pregnancy and GBS in the previous pregnancy

Hi,

My previous labor started with my waters breaking and 12 hours later I had a fever. The contractions weren't effective so I got oxytocin and antibiotics. I tested positive for group B strep, so the baby had to be monitored and given preventive antibiotics right after birth. This last part didn't work out because they couldn't get the IV in, so they decided to wait and see, and it turned out it wasn't necessary, luckily.

Who else has had this experience recently? I'm pregnant again now and wondering if I can give birth at home?

My GP doesn't know, and the child health clinic sent me to the government website but it didn't really help. I can't even think about the baby getting sick after birth because I read it's a serious illness. But I also found it really upsetting that my son was away from me for the first day..

Looking forward to hearing your stories!
