The birth
Happy birth!
Hi everyone!
I thought this was a cheerful title for this topic!
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant with our third little one. At the 20-week scan, they found that our little one had a growth restriction. Since then, I’ve been under the care of an obstetrician, and everything is basically going well. The little one is growing steadily, but still lags behind in growth, although you wouldn’t guess that from the size of my belly... Last week, it seemed like the growth had stagnated a bit again, so I need to go for check-ups more often now.
Our first two kids were born quickly at home, but that’s not happening with this third one. If the little one had another growth spurt, it might have been okay, but I don’t see that happening anymore. Because the little one is so small, the obstetrician doesn’t want to take any risks in the last weeks of pregnancy and will probably induce labor around 37-38 weeks. This is because it’s likely that the baby isn’t getting enough nourishment through the placenta, and it’s safer outside my body.
On the whole, I’m taking it very calmly: what needs to happen, will happen, all for the safety and health of my child! I’d love to connect with other pregnant women in a similar situation to chat about what’s on our minds with the special birth approaching.
Love from Kaatje!
