Hi there,
I'm a 39-year-old mom. I have a 15-year-old son and a 9-year-old. I'm divorced and have a new boyfriend. After a 'failed' pregnancy 6 weeks long back in March, I'm now 6 weeks pregnant again. My boyfriend doesn't have kids. I'm glad there are other women with similar stories. Maybe we can help each other out! -

@moeder,
Hi yes, of course it's nice that you're coming to chat along.. I've also had a miscarriage unfortunately but I'm not pregnant yet even though everything is fine
.. So we're trying for our third child as you look at it... Now we have a son of 18, a 14-year-old and one who's almost 2... I've been active on Brabbels for a while now.
Started at 39 and now I'm almost 42 hihihi who would have thought that we'd still be going for another child..
Enjoy your pregnancy a bit, okay..
Love -

It's definitely different now that you're a parent than it was before, but honestly, I enjoy motherhood even more now.
I'm a mom of 4 kids and I'm 41! I have a son who's 19 and three daughters who are 17, 3, and an 8-week-old baby.
With the little ones, there was amniotic fluid. They did a puncture and they're healthy.
And life doesn't come with guarantees, there are mothers over 40 who don't fall short compared to mothers in their 30s.
Plus, as an older mom, you can be just as modern as other moms. It's about who you are and how you raise your kids.
Enjoy your little ones, they grow up so fast, and being a mom at an older age means you're wiser and calmer than before. -

Hi mamas, I just read all the replies and I'm glad I'm not the only "older" mom. I also have 4 kids and we've just decided to go for a 5th. I wanted to ask you all how long it took for you to get pregnant? With my previous kids, it was almost always instant. When I look at the stats for 35+, my courage really sinks a bit. I obviously don't want to wait years either. But I only read positive things here, which gives me good hope, also towards my surroundings because honestly, I expect some negative reactions. Not that we care, though. Ultimately, it's everyone's own decision! I hope for a reply from you all and wish you all the best... greetings -

@brigitte,
I saw your earlier reply, but I hadn't gotten around to responding yet.
It's nice that you're going for a 5th.
I'm 42 myself and we're going for our 2nd together. It's not happening quickly, and we're currently in an IUI cycle with hormones. I had the insemination yesterday, so I'm on the two-week wait... The test was negative...
But that doesn't mean it won't happen quickly for you, of course.
Good luck with getting pregnant!

Yeah, it doesn't mean much, it'll be different for everyone. But I'm quite impatient by nature, I fear
I hope it won't take much longer for you. I can imagine what that must feel like. Anyway, wishing you lots of patience and courage!
We set the limit at 40 weeks, so I have a year to try.
Have you set a limit somewhere?
Lots of love and thanks for your response

@suus,
It can happen so fast..
Congratulations on the birth of your little boy..
We've been trying for 10 months for our 2nd together after our miscarriage...
Do you want another baby together?

Hi ladies, no, we’ve got enough kids now. I have 2 with my boyfriend and 1 together now
I had a Mirena IUD, and after it was removed, I didn’t get my period but got pregnant right away... Super fast, so... The pregnancy and birth went well. My waters broke at 12 pm, they started inducing labor calmly, and at 5:45 pm my little boy was born
And now I’m enjoying every single minute with him... -

@Brigitte I found it a bit strange that I hadn't gotten my period yet and was also feeling nauseous, so I thought I'd take a test just to be safe, and sure enough, it was positive a month after the removal... Maybe you should wait a few days and test again. Maybe you had a late ovulation??? Good luck anyway

I'll keep you posted.

Hi everyone,
I'm turning 37 in July and pregnant with our second little one. We already have a daughter who's 8.5 years old, and she's super excited (a bit less so now that she has to give up her room...). It wasn't planned, and we need a bit more time to adjust to it, but we're happy about it. We've only told our closest family so far. Everyone is thrilled, except my mom... and that really hurts. After I told her the news, I haven't heard from or seen her since. I understand she's disappointed, especially since we're not in a great financial position due to my partner's illness. I can imagine she's worried about how we'll manage things financially, and I have those same concerns myself. It's not so much about buying baby gear (we actually got rid of most of ours when we moved into our own house), but mainly the childcare costs, since we both work (my husband only part-time), and that will weigh heavily on us. Anyway, we'll figure it out. I just hope I'll be able to reconnect with my mom soon, because right now it's really weighing on me.
Best,
Mieke -

Hi there, another older mom here. I'm 39 and will turn 40 on August 27th. I have a 14-month-old son and am now pregnant with my second, due on November 2nd. I always wished I'd become a mom earlier, but life took a different turn. I'm super proud that I get to experience it after all. -

Hi there, another older mom here. I'm 39 and turning 40 at the end of this month. I have a daughter who's 8, and a stepdaughter and stepson who are 12 and 11. My partner and I would like to have a baby of our own. This is our first round. I'm really enjoying being into this again. Now let's just hope it works out for us..

Hi! Someone here who just found out she's pregnant with her third child. I'll be 38 when the baby is born. I'm really worried about the baby's health, whether I'll be able to handle everything given my age—not now, but in 10 or 15 years. Will I still be able to keep up with a teenager? Will the child suffer from having an older mom? I'm going crazy with all these questions and don't know what to do. -

Hi there,
I’m 40 now and unexpectedly, unplanned pregnant with my first (and I think only!) baby. We’re at 8.5 weeks now. I only found out last week. Since then, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster—uncertainty and, above all, a lot of anxiety about whether everything is okay...
I’d really love to connect with other expectant moms who are a bit older. I notice that I view life differently now than I did when I was younger. And because it came out of the blue (but so welcome!!), so much is hitting me all at once.
I’ve never really thought about midwives, ultrasounds, symptoms, fears, or the fun and weird feelings that come with it all...
So I’m hoping to find some relatability here, as well as some moral support (and of course, I’d love to offer that too!). -

Hi Anne,
I'm doing my PWS on mothers of different ages. That's why I'm really curious about the reactions you received during your pregnancy. For example, how did your family, friends, people in the supermarket, or doctors react? Thanks in advance!
