7 weeks pregnant, no beating heart

Leanai
Hi everyone,
I’m feeling so unsure and really want to share my situation here. Hoping for some responses.

According to my own calculations, I should be almost 8 weeks pregnant now, based on my (real) last period.
My first ultrasound appointment was scheduled for next week, but last week I just couldn’t wait and really wanted an ultrasound. So, I went on Friday the 21st.
No heartbeat.
According to the ultrasound, the embryo didn’t look like it was 7.5 weeks either.
They suspected I might be less pregnant than expected, or that something is wrong.
Because of my irregular cycle (I had my period twice in February and lightly in March), they don’t want to make a judgment yet and said I need to wait 10 days for another ultrasound.
KILLING time, really. I’m dreading the worst. I’m scared and unsure

Has anyone experienced something like this?
Thanks in advance.

    Hi Leanai,

That ultrasound must feel so uncertain, I unfortunately went through it too. I had a miscarriage last August myself. During my first ultrasound, where I should have been 8 weeks and 6 days pregnant according to the calculation, it turned out to be only 5 weeks and 4 days according to the scan. They tried to reassure me by saying it could just be a late pregnancy since I already have a beautiful 23-month-old son and no miscarriages in the past. But my gut said otherwise; how could I have had a positive test so much earlier than that, and it turned out I was right. Two mornings later, I noticed a little blood when wiping, which I had been waiting for. The miscarriage happened later that afternoon.

You also hear positive stories where implantation happened later. Does your positive test roughly match your calculation?

    Thanks for your reply, MamaN.
Yeah, it feels off to me too.
I thought and still think my calculation is correct.
I tested positive on March 29th. A few days before that, it was negative.
I have a little one who’s 9 months old, which is why my cycle isn’t quite ‘normal’ yet. I counted February 26th as my last period.
I actually had my period twice in February.
But I also had it in March…
    I feel awful…
But I’m still really nauseous and I really feel pregnant.
Why am I not bleeding if something’s wrong?

Hi hi, I had the same thing with this pregnancy. According to the calculation, I should have been around 8 weeks, and with the ultrasound, there wasn't much to see... the gynecologist also told me that either the calculation was wrong or something might go wrong, and I had to come back in 2 weeks for another ultrasound... and there was a nice beating heart visible, and the baby had grown well... Normally you get 2 weeks as a bonus with the calculation, and I didn't have that, which is why my calculation was off... Now it's my last few weeks... I hope it goes well for you too.
    Greetings, ikke

Yeah, I also feel like this doesn't seem right.

That's great, congratulations! Enjoy your last few weeks

I hope it's really been miscalculated by me (by myself). But waiting like this isn't fun at all

See, that's how it can also work!

I know, easy to say, don't worry. But unfortunately, there's nothing else you can do but wait at this point. Is there a new ultrasound already scheduled?

Well, the 'original' ultrasound was scheduled for next Wednesday. But I went last Friday because I really couldn't wait. She told me it's better to wait 10 days. So after next weekend. But I'll call them tomorrow to say I still want that ultrasound for next Wednesday..
They should definitely be able to see if the baby has grown, right?
I also want to have my blood tested for hCG tomorrow and then again on Wednesday morning.. to see if it doubled. Am I doing the right thing.. am I overreacting?
    I find this so hard*cry*

I was lucky in a way with the symptoms; I really felt pregnant... As long as I felt that way, I wasn't too worried. At the second ultrasound, the gynecologist said that something wasn't right with the previous scan and that it probably wouldn't have gone well (it was a different gynecologist). Then I told her that I felt very pregnant and that I hadn't lost anything... I was startled when she said that, because the other one had said it would either go well or not... But it went well for me... I'd say don't worry too much as long as you still feel pregnant. I also had a miscarriage in this pregnancy, and I felt then that something wasn't right... I really didn't feel that with this pregnancy... Good luck.

How many weeks did she say the little one was? Maybe you could go on Wednesday if it's possible, where a beating heart should be visible. It's tricky because I didn't have any symptoms during my pregnancy, and during the miscarriage pregnancy either. And now with this one, actually not either.

Wow, that really shows what 'time' can do. Doctors can also be 'wrong'.
Yeah, I feel quite pregnant, super nauseous and (sorry) my bowels are going crazy 3x a day :/
  11. MamaN #12

And how did your ultrasound go?
  12. MamaN #13

Oh it's Tuesday haha silly sorry

Hi, I’ve been there. The gestational sac and embryo are a tiny bit bigger, (still) no super visible heartbeat, although she said there is 'something' happening. She’s very optimistic, but mentioned that the measurement indicates about 6 weeks..
Pffff, I really have to wait another week
Meanwhile, I had my hCG levels checked; they’re now at 53,000 (last Monday), and I got another injection today. On Friday, I’ll find out if they’ve risen properly. Then I’ll need to follow up with the Fertility Clinic.

As long as nothing goes wrong, stay positive. It's already a bit bigger and more visible... this is quite positive... Of course, the first 12 weeks are a risky period... but it's growing, and that's the most important thing for now.

    Thanks for your nice message,
it’s the same for me.. but all sorts of things keep running through my head: in 5 days there should really be more difference?!
It’s enough to drive you crazy. How come
    Patience...
  16. MamaN #17

If you're 6 weeks along, the heart is probably just starting to beat a little too. So seeing something is a good sign! And as long as it's growing, that's great! Those thoughts in your head are totally normal, sweetheart, and even after a good ultrasound, they'll still be there. That's just mom stuff, hehe!
  17. Livi #18

It's indeed hard to wait, but sometimes it's better to wait and try to get it out of your head. Easier said than done when you really want something. I completely understand. But if she says it's already grown a bit, that's already something you can find peace in. Because at 6 weeks, the heart is just starting to beat. Maybe you should only count from that period in March. Good luck and stay calm, not just for yourself but also for that little sprout!!!

    Hi Leanai,
I'm currently in a similar situation as you.
Also at 7 weeks with no heartbeat yet.
I was wondering how things ended up for you?
  19. Meissie #20

I don't know what date this is from... but I had an ultrasound today and unfortunately bad news.
The gestational sac is 8 weeks and the embryo 6.5 weeks... No heartbeat. So, bad news. Next week we're going back... maybe there's still hope. The midwife said it's just not going to work out.
