Hesitant about Navid as a boy's name

We have a foreign surname, so I feel a typical Dutch name doesn't fit. My husband really wants a Dutch name because he's afraid our son will be excluded because of his name.
We both think the name Navid is beautiful, but my husband is worried it sounds too Islamic. What do you all think?

I think it's beautiful! And definitely not too Islamic. More biblical, actually.
How do you pronounce the name? David with an 'n'?

Thanks! It's tricky to discuss with someone else when you want to keep the name a secret ;-) Glad there are forums out there.
Unlike with David, the emphasis in Navid is more on the "i".

Ah, I would have pronounced it like that right away (since my first reaction was...). Nice, though.
Maybe with a hyphen on the i? So spell it Navíd, or would that be too exotic?

The last name also ends in i?, so we'd have a hyphen there anyway. But given the pronunciation, it might be worth discussing. Thanks for thinking along!

I had a boy in my class before who was called that. You'd say, "Navet, just say Navet." I've always thought it's a beautiful name. It sounds a bit foreign, but not 'too' exotic, you know. It really suits your child. And about the dot on the i: I don't think that's necessary. Just say it once and people will remember it.

I think David is a really nice name, Navid not so much... But if it's the name for you guys, you shouldn't let that stop you, of course!

Navid I think the name is very beautiful!
    Navidad means Christmas in Spanish

Beautiful name and I would automatically pronounce it as Navit. I don't have any Islamic association with it.

For me, it definitely came across as an Islamic name.
Besides that, choosing a name is very personal. Good luck!
