How long can it take...

Patricia
Hi there,

I stopped the pill on August 1st and am now trying to conceive our first baby. Everything is still new to me, and I realize I have a lot to learn And like many others, I’m impatient. I hope to get pregnant as soon as possible, but I’ve been on the pill since I was 15 (I’m 28 now). What’s a rough estimate of how long it might take for me to get pregnant? Some say it can happen within a month, while others say it took them up to 3 years. I can’t even imagine it taking that long... And maybe it sounds weird/embarrassing to say, but my boyfriend also has one testicle that hasn’t descended properly. Could that affect our chances of getting pregnant?

I hope you can answer my questions and maybe give some tips, since I’m still a total beginner in this area!

    @Ju Thanks for your sweet reply! I just checked that link. According to my partner, he had a check-up with the doctor a while ago and it should be fine, so we're waiting hopefully, haha And regarding bad habits, I'm pretty much a saint; I don't smoke and I only drink a glass of wine very occasionally, almost never. Only my partner smokes, but he still plans to quit.... yeah.... Judging by your photo, you're already pregnant! Nice, congratulations! Wishing you lots of luck and health, you two and the little one!

    @Lola I'm not tracking my ovulation yet, but I plan to! Which site did you use to calculate it? Or which one would you recommend? It sounds really nice, actually, to share the experience with someone who's at about the same stage as me, haha!

    Hi hi,
    I just wanted to reply because, like you, I was really curious how long it would take after taking the pill for so many years. I had given myself half a year, but it turned out I was already pregnant in the first week after stopping the pill. Now we're at 22 weeks ... It's really a question no one can answer... Good luck anyway!!

    Greetings

    @Patricia, no worries girl, yeah I'm currently pregnant with my third, going through a rough patch right now but it'll all be okay in the end. We live right next to my in-laws and that causes quite a bit of tension. Not recommended at all, really, avoid it at all costs. My partner blames my hormones but I'm just completely fed up with everything.

    Sometimes you just need some privacy and I don't get that here.
    Well, it'll pass, I guess.

    Cheers Ju

    @Lola,
    Nope, this pregnancy wasn't planned. It's my third, but it's very welcome after all the hassle. I hope you guys get pregnant soon and can just enjoy it without all the extra drama around me.

    Good luck, 20000000000000000 ladies.

    @Ju, I totally get what you mean! I can't even imagine having to live next to my mother-in-law; she'd definitely wear a hole in our door every day, and I'm not looking forward to that at all. So I completely understand! I hope you still have a lovely 3rd pregnancy despite those tough moments. Hopefully, everything will work out.

    @Lola86 I made the calendar on Predictor.nl this afternoon, it's really fun! I'm 28 years old and I do have a regular cycle, my clock ticks well, I think/feel I

    Hi, I was also on the pill. I stopped the pill and was pregnant after three weeks, and on May 3rd I gave birth to a healthy daughter. Her name is Lara.

    Thanks

    It took 8 months for us... I went through a lot of pregnancy tests

    I had an irregular cycle, so I just went

    It took 8 months for us... we had two little dips during that time, because once you stop the pill you want it to happen as soon as possible. I tried not to focus on it, but everyone around me seemed suddenly pregnant except me. So I went through a lot of pregnancy tests

    All in all, it took 8 months and honestly I shouldn't complain, especially when you hear other stories... pff

    I had an irregular cycle and so I started tracking my temperature on the advice of my gynecologist. Just take your temperature every morning at roughly the same time before getting out of bed. I did it under my tongue.

    Good luck Patricia and Lola 86!!!

    @patricia,

    It's my sister-in-law, she also has 2 sons and one of those sons is always running in and out of the house, it's enough to drive you crazy. Then he wants to borrow a scent, then shaving foam, man, sometimes it just drives you mad.... sometimes I just don't want to be at home....

    All in all, sometimes you just want to shit on your sister-in-law, you really want to see her, but not every day, that's too much for me.
    Thanks for your message.

    Love, ju

    Hi Tineke,

    Hi everyone,
    On Tuesday, my Mirena IUD is coming out, and we're going to start trying to conceive. I haven't had a period for 2 years now, so I've had the IUD since then. I'm not sure how long it will take for things to return to normal. Anyway, I'll start taking folic acid right away. I'm already eating healthily, and starting Tuesday, I'm quitting smoking cold turkey!

    @ ju.. My in-laws live next door too, but they're really wonderful people. I don't even see them every day, but they come over about once every 2 weeks and always text before they drop by. IDEAL! By the way, we kind of sneak into their place, haha.

    By the way, we're going for our first baby. I naturally hope it'll work out quickly for us too, but the most important thing for us is: AS LONG AS it works out.
    Unfortunately, it's not something everyone takes for granted. I'd find that absolutely terrible and think it's the worst thing that could ever happen to me, because I've dreamed of becoming a mother my whole life.

    @Lana,
    First of all, it's nice that you're going to try, hopefully you'll get pregnant. It's strange that you didn't get your period at all in 2 years. Or is that normal with an IUD???
    In-laws are quite different from a sister-in-law, and cousins who are always dropping by... But I think it's nice for you that it's working out for you.
    For us, it's a bit less intense.

    Cheers Ju
