How many rounds does it take?

Dear people,
I was wondering after how many rounds it became real for you? And what is your age?

We want to start from July, it's quite exciting but you never know if and when it will happen

    So nice, mama2!!!
It’s exciting once you’ve taken that step, right? At least I think it’ll always feel exciting, or not, hehe!

What’s the reason you’re only starting in July? And how many rounds did it take last time for it to stick?

We don’t really have a "strategy" in place, I guess we just think about it, of course, but I don’t want to burden him with it, haha. He’s always in the mood anyway, so it doesn’t really matter, hehe! I also think it’s every other day. I’ve already got the OPUs at home and I’ve been using them this month just to see if my cycle is under control a bit now (I got those cheap ones from the Action). And because I can’t help but be busy with it anyway!

I’m 27 and my boyfriend is 26! Both born in February, which was our reason to wait two more months before trying to conceive, not having both of us celebrating in February!! Although I know it might take a while before it actually sticks!

With the first one, I got pregnant in round 1. And with the second one, in round 3. (Though we completely skipped round 2 due to bruised ribs on my end)
I was 28 with the first and 30 with the second.
It seems like my partner and I are a fertile combination, because it's been going very fast and easy so far. Just no contraception and when we feel like it, we hang out and do our thing. My partner's reaction to the second pregnancy: I didn't even try...

Haha oh Amy, that's so nice!!
So it can work out like that too!
I read so many posts from people here who’ve been trying for months or even years, and it sometimes makes me lose heart (and I haven’t even started yet)!

I’m really curious, hopefully it’ll work out for us too and we won’t have to wait too long!!
By the way, did you do anything else to increase your chances?

And did you try anything to influence the gender?

Both of my kids were conceived after fertility treatments. I was 21 when I got pregnant after 1.5 years (6 IUI attempts). The second one, which I'm currently pregnant with, came after just 2 months (1 IUI attempt). I'm almost 24 now..!

Hopefully, you'll get pregnant soon, but remember: expect at least a year to get pregnant!

    Crumb, that’s no small thing!!
May I ask what exactly was going on that it took so long, considering you’re still so young?

I’m sure it’ll take a little while before it happens, but just in case, I already stopped the pill in October because I really wanted to anyway. It was just a matter of waiting for my partner, and luckily he’s now on board too We’re starting in July, so it’s getting quite exciting!!

Nice mama2!! Exciting too, and fun that we're starting at the same time!
When will your due date be?
If my cycle stays somewhat regular, it'll be between August 4th and 10th. It depends on how the last two cycles were, coincidentally 28 days, but the ones before were quite irregular.

I've already started using ovulation tests from Action to see if I can find my egg. Has anyone had experience with these tests? I had tests from "Zwanger en Kids" before, and I got a faint line every day with those, so definitely not. I'm wondering if these are just less sensitive and only give a clear line for my egg?

By the way, it's a nice idea mama2 to get together with the mamas who are pregnant at the same time Not sure if that'll happen!

Hard to say for sure yet, but my ovulation should be somewhere between July 20 and 26. I had of course hoped for July 1st, haha, well, July is July, but alas! And oh well, we're so close now that those two months don't really matter anymore

By chance, I started doing ovulation tests today because I wanted to see if I could find my egg. I also bought the ones from Action, but so far nothing yet. It should be within the next 4 days, hopefully...

How long are your cycles, mama2? Sorry, I can't find it so quickly.

My cycle has been 28 days for the past 2 months, but it was quite irregular before that, so I have no idea what it’ll be like this month. I hope it stays around 28 so I can start earlier in July, hehe! That’s why I’ve started using those ovulation tests to see when my ovulation is. I expect it to be this week, so I’ll keep testing. I test whenever I get back from work, around 6 pm. I don’t think there’s really a specific time that’s better for testing; they just say not to use morning urine, which is the opposite of pregnancy tests.

But indeed, I’m already preparing. I feel like I’m not thinking about anything else anymore, haha. I’ve even bought vitamins for my boyfriend, specially for the future dad, to optimize sperm quality, and I even bought some Maca powder from Albert Heijn. I take 1 tablespoon a day mixed into a smoothie or yogurt... Do you have any more tips?
  11. Vivian #12

Mama2; really first time without a condom? That's going to be special! When is that happening?
  12. Vivian #13

Why not now if you're planning to get pregnant anyway? And are you curious? It's so different without, especially for him I think, hihi!
  13. Lin<3 started this #14

I’d really like to start now too, Vivian, but for my boyfriend it’s quite a big step. He really likes the idea, but it’s also very exciting for him, and he feels like you both need to be ready for it. And if he wants to do it this way, I’m okay with that. I’m already so happy that he ultimately made the choice, and well... what do those two months really matter anyway!

I’ve mainly decided not to stress about him not wanting to start yet, but instead focus more on possibly increasing our chances. So I’ve got my boyfriend taking folic acid too, and I’m busy reading up on everything else, hehe!
  14. Vivian #15

Hihi, yes, I totally get it, sweetheart! It's so nice that he wants to think along! And the first time without a condom; how long have you been doing it like that?
  15. Lin<3 started this #16

I stopped the pill in October, so since then we've been using condoms. Before that, when I was on the pill and we did it (if we did it at all) without... Haha sorry I just say it like that because the pill really killed my libido. I just never felt like it anymore, didn't know what hit me. Since I stopped, I'm unstoppable haha!!

But anyway, we initially used condoms, but lately the boundaries have become blurrier. We're just going for it, no more "not fertile period" stuff—we just do it... I notice it's not that important to my boyfriend anymore either, and I'm super happy about that!

Hope it doesn't take too long though, since I stopped the pill in October. I hope that stuff is out of my system, but that doesn't always mean anything, of course...
  16. Milou #17

Hit on the first round for me. I didn’t even know when my fertile days were, saw it more as a practice round haha 28 when I got pregnant, I wasn’t taking hormonal contraception before that.
  17. Vivian #18

So it won't be such a big shock for him without a condom, hihi! I also had less desire on the pill, we didn't make love more than half a week. It was always a bit frustrating for my partner, but now he gets enough, hihi! How often did you do it when you were on the pill and do you recognize the frustration?
  18. Lin<3 started this #19

Haha Vivian, stop it! Twice a week was already way too much!! Sometimes we went two weeks without it, which was obviously unpleasant for him, but also for me! But that's apparently what the Diane pill is known for. Glad I'm finally rid of this mess and hopefully it's completely out of my system by July for a fresh start. Hihi!

Since we're already talking about the details,
I just got home and threw an ovulation test at it. Unfortunately, no line yet, but when wiping, I got a whole thick clump of white mucus in one go.
And sorry for the details, but I really wanted to test if this is what they say about "stretchy" mucus. I put it between two pieces of toilet paper and indeed, it checks out!

Do you know how long before ovulation this mucus starts showing up? Or is it hard to say? Or can I expect my egg any moment now? Exciting haha!! Maybe time for an evening with lots of alcohol involved hahaha!
