Scandinavian name for a girl. It means 'sun path'. Pretty? Or too unique for here?

If you say it as Solvee, I actually think it sounds pretty nice. Only that j at the end looks a bit weird, but you just have to get used to it. Nice meaning!

I might also go with Solvee as the spelling. Quite funny, though.

I think I know this name as Solveig? Solvej is a bit clearer in terms of pronunciation. Indeed, it has a nice meaning and is quite unique. But well, many names are unique. If you like it, just go for it, I'd say.

    Nice!

    Solvej is beautiful!
    I prefer Yentle and Olen.
I also think Maren is a super beautiful Scandinavian name, works for both boys and girls. I like it more for girls though.

I also think Nils is nice for a boy. Also Scandinavian. Think of Nils Holgerson. I have a soft spot for Katoo. I think Olen is nice too. For me, it was important that people could pronounce the name well. It didn't seem so nice to the kids to always have to say; no, not Maas (Maes) but Mees. This is just an example, but with Jysk, Tunde, is there a slight doubt about the pronunciation maybe? I'd go for Solvei/j, and preferably with an i if the pronunciation is like that. Or for Katoo, very nice! For the boy names, Olen. I also know an Ole, by the way. I think it looks a bit nicer. I also like Nils, as I said. I find Scandinavian names very beautiful, my brother lives in Sweden and his children have Scandinavian names. Very nice!

I know the name with the spelling Solveig. But then it might be a bit harder to see how it's pronounced.

Solvei seems like a clever spelling to me.

    I also like Olav.

Emme, what are your brother's kids called? :-)
I think Nils is a nice name for a boy, but my partner doesn't think it's tough/cool enough. Then I suggested Nils for a girl. I find it super cheerful and a bit tough/cool, but my partner thinks it's too much of a boy's name, haha! So we came up with Nilse, which has been on our list since the pregnancy of our son. But we're still exploring more options now.

I think you're right, it's Solveig. Beautiful, unique name! It's on my list too!

Another question about this name. I've read that in Danish it's pronounced "Soelwij," but in Dutch I'd just say "Solvej." I think it sounds so soft and beautiful... I'm really a bit in love with the lovely name and its meaning. But is it weird to pronounce an originally Danish name in a Dutch way? I find that prettier than the Danish pronunciation. And in Dutch it still sounds Scandinavian to me.

No, I don't think it's weird. It's such an unfamiliar name that no one will know you're pronouncing it differently in Danish.
Besides: we say Paris here, not Pa-rie, right?

I just saw your question, so I'll answer quickly.
    My brother's kids are called:
Elias Alexander Lukas, 9 years old
Mette Lykke Anna, 7 years old
Tove Malin Helen, 5 years old
    And then there was a surprise, namely twins;
Lukas Björn Guus, 1.5 years old
    And
Marit Benthe Julia, also 1.5 years old

He has a house full! Super cozy there. They live in the south, in the Skåne province. His kids all have Scandinavian names, while mine sound super Dutch; Marie, Feike, Gijs. And my other brother has a son and a daughter, and they're called James and Kate. Among us, tastes differ quite a bit, although I do think the names my cousins have are nice!

    Solvej is quite nice.
