How big is the head actually?

Hi moms and moms-to-be,

As you can guess, I'm pregnant with everything that comes with it. Nausea, pain, pink cloud, happy, confused, and a growing belly.

I was wondering, since I can't find this anywhere, how big the baby's head is right now, which I'll have to push out soon. I read that the head has the largest diameter of the whole body, but how big is that exactly?

    Hey,

well, it really depends on the baby. But think along the lines of a big orange/grapefruit. Something like that? Anyway, those are things you don't need to worry too much about; it'll all work out once you're in labor.
In my opinion, the contractions are more painful than the actual delivery At least, that was the case with my first one. I'm curious to see how it'll be this time!

    Cheers.

Hi Natalie, oh... that's quite a lot, honestly. To be honest, I'm most scared of that part. I'm not so afraid of the pain. Never have been, but maybe that'll change as it gets closer.

I saw a photo of a total rupture recently, and that scares me way more. Incredible that you survive that. Brrrrrr, no, I don't even want to think about it

Don't look at too many scary things, that'll only make you anxious.
And that little head, don't stress too much about it, that head gives too! The skull is still soft and the two halves kind of slide over each other a bit.
    It'll be fine!

oooh i was watching youtube for pregnancy yoga last week.
i thought maybe i could do those exercises at home. there was a video of a birth included. i really couldn't resist watching it. now i'm not really focusing on how the birth will go, but when i saw that video i got a bit anxious :s

If you have full dilation, that's about 10 cm, and the baby's head fits through.
You really don't need to worry about it! Just remember that millions - no, billions - of women have gone through this before you.

I want to know too! My baby is almost here and I have no idea how big it is. 10cm? I really, really want to know.

Had 2 strong babies, born 3 weeks early & they came out just fine, hihi

I also found the contractions worse than the birth itself.
Good luck, don't stress too much, let it wash over you, it'll all be fine!

During the 20 and 30-week scans, the head is measured. Ask your midwife about it. My daughter is growing well overall, but she does have a small head. That's not so strange, since I have a smaller head myself.
