Induce

Had my check-up with the midwife today, and the baby is doing well. She’s already engaged, heart rate is good, etc.

But I’m suffering so much from pelvic instability and pregnancy sciatica that the midwife suggested considering bringing the baby earlier. She mentioned inducing labor at 38 weeks because I’m only getting worse.

I was planning to give birth at home, but that would be a completely different story in this case. I’d have to transfer to an obstetrician and give birth in the hospital, etc. Plus, I just know so little about induction; I personally don’t know anyone who’s experienced it.

Has anyone here been induced? What were your experiences?

In the meantime, I’m hoping really hard that she decides to come on her own around 38 weeks, naturally!

The best way is of course the natural way. If she comes on her own.
But yeah, I don't know exactly how bad what you describe is, pregnancy sciatica?
I've never heard of that before.
I myself have no experience with induction at all, my daughters both came earlier than due.
But I certainly hope that she will just show up on her own, your baby.
My mother was induced for me because of high blood pressure and she didn't find it pleasant. She just gave birth to my sister naturally, 2 weeks overdue, but looks back on it more pleasantly.

    The contractions started more calmly.
She found it much more pleasant the natural way.
When they induced me, she felt like the contractions came too fast one after another.
But I can't really say anything from my own experience.
I hope you get to experience the natural birth.

I was induced and found it to be a great experience. I found the atmosphere in the hospital very relaxed and pleasant. I had to stay overnight after my check-up with the gynecologist on Monday to be induced (which was expected, so I already had a bag packed). That day, I got a balloon to help with dilation, and they would check the next day if I had enough dilation to proceed with induction. My partner was allowed to stay and sleep over that night. The next morning, we were woken up at 6:00 and headed to the delivery rooms. It turned out I had enough dilation, so my waters were broken and I got an IV. Breaking my waters was quite painful, but I have a high uterus, so they had to work hard to reach it. But if you ask what was the most painful part of the birth, it was definitely breaking my waters.

My contractions quickly became intense, and I eventually had an epidural. It can also start off much more calmly. Just like with a natural birth, you can't predict beforehand how you'll experience the contractions. The nursing staff was all very kind, and if we needed anything, they sorted it out quickly, but they also gave us space together, which I really appreciated. But when my partner went to eat for a bit, someone from the staff immediately took his place to support me with the contractions. After my son was born, we enjoyed being with him, were left alone, and got some drinks and food. Then, under the supervision of a nurse, we showered. (Stubborn as I am, I wanted to do everything myself, including washing my hair, so I almost fainted, but it was good I had help.)

We had to stay another night, so afterward, we were moved to the postpartum ward with our bed and spent the night as a family of three.

Ultimately, my waters were broken at 9:30, and my baby was born at 6:30 PM. So quite fast. But I really had a good feeling about the induction.

I was induced for my first and I'm pregnant with my second. The reason I had to be induced was that I take medication for chronic high blood pressure.
At 38+1 weeks, I got a balloon in the morning. The next morning, I was 3 cm dilated, and then my waters broke (I didn't feel anything at all). My waters broke around 10:30, and she was born at 18:30. I did have an IV with labor-inducing medication in the meantime.
My husband was also allowed to stay overnight every night. The morning after the birth, we were able to go home.

    Hey!
I’ve already been induced twice due to gestational diabetes, and this will soon be my third time. Induction isn’t too bad in itself, but with my first son they induced me on Monday and I gave birth on Friday! That was quite a struggle! But with my second son it went super smoothly! And now we’re hoping my little princess will also come out quickly and be healthy! Greetings
