outpatient delivery

Hey,

I'd like to go home pretty quickly after my second baby is born.

Now I'm torn between a home birth (with just a midwife) or a regular hospital birth. Can you go home after, say, 1 night (if everything is fine, of course)?

Does anyone here have experience with this?

Thanks in advance!

I had hospital births for my two daughters. I gave birth to the first one at 1 am and stayed overnight. I went back home the next morning at 7 am. The midwife was there, along with someone from the hospital. I could have given birth at home, but I consciously chose to do it at the hospital because I still lived at home and my mother preferred that I gave birth there. The whole birth took about 6 hours for my first. But now that I'm pregnant with my third, I'm considering having a home birth after all. Since I gave birth so quickly to my daughters and had such fast dilation, the midwife said it would be easier for me to give birth at home this time. For the second birth, I also gave birth at night, stayed overnight, and went home the next morning.

I had my first baby in the hospital and had to stay overnight. I didn't mind it that much, but this time I hope to give birth outpatient and go straight home. I've got a little one who's 3.5 years old now and I really want to go home.

I saw it with my sister, who was back home after a few hours and it was nice on one hand. On the other hand, if you get visitors right away, it can be tough. You feel obligated to sit on the couch, but all you want to do is lie down.

With my first, immediate family came to the hospital during visiting hours. Haha, I didn't want all that at home.. They were also pretty quick, now I don't want that. My husband has to pick up my daughter and the time in the hospital is for us as a family. If I have to stay, they can come later and another time when I'm home..
