Pff, that's intense! I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! My mother-in-law is meddling in every way possible, acting like if things don't go her way, the world is going to end. This causes me so much stress! Whenever we ask her to leave us alone, she immediately knows what the problem is. And when we explain it, she twists everything so that it's all my fault. Now my boyfriend has talked to my father-in-law, and he's going to tell my mother-in-law to stop her nonsense and leave us alone. He says that she's causing so much stress that it could end up in a miscarriage. Hopefully, this threat works. And I can keep food down again. So far, I'm still weighing the same as during my intake appointment at the GP! This can't be good, can it??
I’ve been married for a year. At the beginning, my mother-in-law was really sweet. Then suddenly my father-in-law passed away—he committed suicide. He was such a kind man. He always told my husband and me that you have to trust your mother-in-law, that she’s someone else in her life, but we thought no, that can’t be true. Okay, after 6 months of losing my father-in-law, I suddenly heard stories about my mother-in-law. So I started investigating her, and then I saw that she doesn’t just have one man, but multiple men. And I thought, who should I tell all this to? My husband loves his mother so much. I started to hate her, because because of her my father-in-law died. But I couldn’t take it anymore, so I told everything to my husband. And yes, then it was just arguments. She said it’s her body, who are we to interfere in her life? She didn’t even speak to me anymore. She’s a housewife, and she stopped cooking for me and my husband. When I came home from work, I had to cook first and then eat. I was also planning to move out, but my husband said if I moved out, would he come with me? Which I didn’t want. But up until now, she hasn’t stopped with her stuff, and I hate her from the bottom of my heart. And I really want a baby, but it’s not working out for me. It feels like she’s doing something to me, or maybe putting something in my food. And yes, according to her, I never do anything right. Her daughter and she are perfect.
People, this is my story.
@guest you can't expect that because she's a housewife she has to cook for you. In "real" life with or without kids you also have to work and then cook/clean after. It's sweet if she would do it for you when you come home from work but my MIL didn't do that either.
The solution is to find your own place to start your own life also keeping your desire for kids in mind. When we were offered a house we left immediately even though my MIL didn't want that. By the way she's also not such a nice woman at least to put it mildly but well. If you have the opportunity to move you should go you're in her house now so you can't expect too much either
