Luna or Jasmijn?

Dear girls from Brabbels,
If you had to choose between these two names, which would you prefer?
I'm pregnant with my third child. It's going to be a girl. My husband thinks Luna is absolutely amazing
But I also think Jasmijn is really beautiful.
What would your preference be: Luna or Jasmijn?
Greetings, Madelene

And Luna, of course, pronounced as Loena.

Both are beautiful names, Jasmijn is more common. That's why I'd go for Luna.

I think Luna pronounced as Luuuna sounds a lot nicer and more Dutch. Otherwise, I still get the association with 'loony' and 'lunatic', and that's far from positive.

Jasmijn is classic, of course, and always beautiful.

Luna, you hear about her so much. On the other hand, Jasmijn is also a well-known name. So yes. If your husband likes Jasmijn and you like Luna, it's a bit awkward for the other person when you choose one. Why not just go for both? Luna Jasmijn sounds nice anyway. And that way your daughter has a name from both parents

    Jasmijn! Beautiful name!

    Jasmijn

    Jasmijn

Indeed, why not Luna Jasmijn? The other way around sounds less nice. Although I would also pronounce Luna as Luuna.

Thank you so much, ladies, for your responses about the names
Here's the thing: my husband thinks Luna is absolutely amazing. He actually wanted to give it to our second daughter already, but I didn't want that.
I'm more leaning towards Jasmijn; it's closer to my heart.
That's why I came here to ask what most people think about the names.
I see more votes for Jasmijn,
so it confirms my feelings because I'd really like to give her that name.
I don't like Luna and Jasmijn as much, thanks for the idea
But now I still need to convince my husband to go for Jasmijn.
And hopefully, he can let go of Luna.
It's great that you all share your opinions on the names here. This makes it easier for me to make a choice

And Luna pronounced as luuna is not an option.
Because my husband says he finds loena more beautiful, that pronunciation.
He thinks the meaning moon is also nice in Italian, it speaks to him too by name.
More reactions are of course always welcome

You could also choose a third name: "Maan" for example instead of Luna. Sterre is after all also a name.

No, I don't really think it's a nice name to give. And my husband finds the sound and meaning in Italian really beautiful.
But I'd rather go with Jasmijn, so I'll just see how I can change it. He doesn't think Jasmijn is bad either, but Luna is just the one for him.
Now that I'm reading your opinions, it has confirmed my choice more and more.
So I've ended up standing even more behind Jasmijn
Well, my due date is March 18th, so I still have some time.. I just want to have the name ready now.

What about Jasmijn as the first name and Luna as the second? No option for that?
  14. madelene started this #15

Hi Lauwtje, yes, I’d like that!
Jasmijn Luna. Let me see what my husband thinks about it?

Luna and then indeed as Loena
  16. Mama van twee Guest #17

    Both are lovely names...
Luna sounds a bit stronger and sportier... (But I feel the same about Yara )...
Jasmijn comes across as a bit sweeter and more classic to me...
Tough choice indeed... I don't have a preference...

Thanks Irma and mom of 2 for your opinions.
My oldest daughter is named Yara
My husband came along with that too
It's so nice how you describe how both names come across to you
I can also form an image of how I want the name she carries to come across
I really appreciate this a lot
I also thought Jasmijn sounded softer.
Once I've made my choice together with my husband, of course, I'll definitely let you know here what it ended up being

You say your husband really wanted to name your previous daughter Luna, but you didn’t want that. Now you’re having another daughter—so isn’t it just nice to let him have the honor this time? I find that a bit selfish. It’s his child too, and he’s already made it clear that he finds Luna the end (as you yourself said).

I think Luna is more beautiful than Yara. What's your other daughter's name again?
