Getting pregnant after using the pill

Hi

I couldn't find my post easily, so I'm posting it twice.

After stopping the pill
My last period was on June 2nd. After my period, we stopped taking the pill. Since it usually takes a little while to get pregnant (after stopping the pill), and if it happens sooner, that's amazing! I calculated online when I would be most fertile with a 28-day cycle. The calculation said it was around June 14th/15th, and we had sex on June 14th. But I can't believe it could be a pregnancy already if you've been on the pill for years. However, I've really not been feeling well since yesterday. My stomach is bloated, even near my bladder, I think it's bloated intestines (since they're already sensitive for me). My jeans are irritating me near my bladder. I also have severe lower back pain and a nagging feeling in my stomach. And sometimes nauseous during the day! Even coffee makes me nauseous. But since I already have difficult bowel movements, I find it hard to judge. Still, it feels different than usual, but I can hardly believe it. Does anyone have experience with this? If all goes well, my period should come again on June 30th.

    hey,

I also took the pill for a long time (12 years) and I also thought you had to "detox" from it and that you couldn't get pregnant immediately because you had been on the pill for so long. I told my husband that it could easily take half a year to a year before you're pregnant, because you probably won't ovulate right away. So with these thoughts, I also stopped, expecting it to take a while before I'd get pregnant.
I stopped in July and what turned out to be is that I was already pregnant after the first time. I couldn't believe it, so now I never say again that you can't get pregnant right away when you stop the pill. I was really pregnant from the very first time and didn't expect this at all.

I didn't feel like I was pregnant, my period was late and I was getting married, so I just did a test immediately and it was positive.
You can only test 4 days before your period is due, so I'd wait a bit to see if your period comes by June 30th, if not, do a test.

    greetings Ukje

    Hi Ukje

Haha, that’s quite something! It’s really nice that it worked out right away. I keep in mind that your body needs to kick the pill and that your body might do some weird things and show strange signs. But it’s still weird that you feel nauseous and bloated in your belly and have pain deep down in your lower abdomen. I feel like I’m getting more tired now too, so we’ll wait and see. I’ve always had restless bowels, but not like this, and the stabbing pains and small cramps are mainly very deep in my lower belly, so it’s not comfortable to wear jeans hahaha.. Strange, but we’ll have a bit more patience.

    Thanks

That sounds exciting! I had a lot of pregnancy-like symptoms in the first month after I stopped the pill... very sore breasts, a yeast infection, fatigue, lower abdominal pain... etc. etc... I didn't get my period, took a test, and it was negative. I could hardly believe it! The next day I got my period, 4 days late, but apparently, I just had a longer cycle. My boyfriend was so shocked (and we were also on a world trip) that we decided to put it on hold for now and used condoms for 2 months. My periods were very irregular! When we got back, we tried again, and I was pregnant right away! And I had been on the pill for 16 years....
So it could be anything... withdrawal symptoms from the pill... or maybe even a pregnancy already! Exciting!
    Good luck!

    Hi Linda,

Yeah, it's pretty nerve-wracking and my belly stays bloated even after I've had a bowel movement, haha. Usually that helps, but the lines at the bottom still feel a bit naggy. So it could definitely be right after stopping the pill, especially if you have sex on your most fertile day, of course... It's really mainly my lower abdomen and back that are acting up, and it was so recent, and all these symptoms. It's early, but you never know, right! :-)

    I'm curious, keep us posted!

It would be super, of course, but then you'd have symptoms really early on. Honestly, I immediately thought of a bladder infection. I've had quite a bit of experience with that, actually.
But I'll definitely be rooting for you to be pregnant!

It's not a bladder infection, no trouble urinating or pain there, nothing wrong with that. Anyway, I haven't been off the pill for very long so maybe that could be it too. I read online that pregnancy symptoms can look a lot like the symptoms right after stopping the pill. Some women get bothered by this and some don't. It even said that some women think they're pregnant then. We hope we are pregnant haha and if not, next time better hihi

But you can take a pregnancy test 4 days in advance????!

That could indeed work, but then you'd better buy one of those early tests just to be safe... They're a bit more expensive, but they show positive results earlier.. If I were you, I'd just wait a few days and then grab the cheap tests from Action. It worked out really well for me, and I think I paid like 1.80 for two.. But yeah, that's what you want to do yourself.

How expensive are those early tests? Does Action also have pregnancy tests, huh? Haha, never knew that! What a nice price too! I thought Kruidvat's own brand was already cheap for 2! I think I'll have a bit more patience.. Since it's almost June 30th
  10. Flower #11

I think I saw it for like 9 euros for 1 test. Yeah, I didn't know about Action either, but I bought it last week. So it could indeed have been cheaper at Kruidvat!
  11. Linda #12

The ones from Action are also early. It says you can test 4 days before your expected period.
  12. Flower #13

Ooh, that could be it, Linda.. I didn't even notice. But no more tests for me. They do their job well and are nice and cheap.
  13. Linda #14

Yes, I was really happy with it too!

Do you know more yet, Anoniem2?

    Hi everyone,
I started the pill on his 12th and then switched to the injection pill, then to the IUD, and finally went back to the pill.
I stopped on May 18, 2015, and had a positive test on June 18, 2015. Got pregnant on the first try!!!! Never expected that!!!! By the way, I'm 30 years old, and this is our first baby.
  16. Linda #17

    Congratulations Samantha, super nice!
  17. samanthavD #18

    Thank you so much, Linda

Congratulations to you too!! I'm glad you got through those stressful weeks, I see
    How are you feeling?

I think it's taking a long time. I was supposed to get my period last Tuesday, and now it's Tuesday again and I still haven't gotten it. I've been having period cramps though, so I think it's coming but just won't start! It's been 2 weeks since I stopped the pill. I think it's taking a long time, but maybe it's normal? Can it take a bit longer?
  19. Linda #20

    Haven't tested yet, Anoniem2?

Oh yes, SamanthavD! I've been sick and nauseous for a couple of weeks, but feeling much better now! How are you feeling?
