Hi there;
I came across Brabbels through my sister. I'm 17 and I found out today that I'm pregnant. Oops, oh dear. What now?
My boyfriend is 27. We have a stable relationship. He's studying law and has a house. We're both thinking about what we want to do—whether to have an abortion or take responsibility for the baby. I really don't know what to do myself. I'm going to do a level 3 nursing assistant training soon. I hope you can help me/give me some advice. You're probably thinking 'oh she's only 17', yes, I think so too. People will probably say 'you'll lose your youth soon'. Well, that can't be true, because I've already lost it. My age is 17, but I'm much further ahead due to my past...
But still, this is really difficult.
I hope you can help me!

Love,

    No one can tell you what to do or give you the right advice. Only you and your partner know how you both feel about this. Are you ready for a baby? Could you live with the idea of having an abortion? Those are questions you two need to find answers to. Talk to each other and don't let the condescending comments from others about your age get to you. It's your life, your choices! Good luck

    Hi,

    You can get professional help with this. Otherwise, take a look at the FB foundation "All Together."

    First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy!
    I hope you make a wise decision.
    Having an abortion is the heaviest thing there is; it has a huge impact on a woman. Of course, it’s your decision, but honestly, I hope you’ll keep your baby....

    Wishing you all the best in making your decision.

    Would you like to share your decision with us?

    Also, if you want to chat, there’s a group for January or February moms, but maybe first focus on the decision. Good luck!

    Dear Mavanmi, Nan and Siskaa.
    Thank you for your lovely comments.
    Last night we told my parents. They already had a suspicion because I wasn't taking the pill properly and of course nausea etc. They weren't angry and not disappointed either. Which is what I had actually expected. And I'm so happy, I tell you. We talked for a long time. As they say, 'you were there yourself, girl, you are responsible yourself.' So I take that responsibility and I'm keeping the baby. And I will raise it with all my love. But my studies are important too, and I'm just going to finish them! Only now the next point. My mother-in-law reacted much more intensely. She just says get rid of it because we can't handle that now. BAM! She's tough, I tell you. Luckily I have loving parents who say; it's your body Irene. A little one is growing in YOUR belly! They can't force you. Now I hope my boyfriend has the guts and that he can prove that he's going for me and the baby. I find it very nerve-wracking. But that's his choice. It's naturally super difficult for him. He's doing his master's and has to think about the rest too. Your own family says no. And your in-laws say yes. I'm glad I'm not in his shoes. But I will support him as much as I can. And I hope he makes a good decision. That we can give our child a stable situation together. And that the child may be happy and raised with love! I'm going for it!

    That's so nice that your parents reacted like that! Your boyfriend is 27, so in terms of age, I don't see any obstacle at all. You mentioned "maatschap," what do you mean by that?

    I also hope your boyfriend will support you and take responsibility for this little miracle. Raising a child on your own isn't easy, I can tell you from my own experience, but with your parents' support, you'll make it, girl!

    His parents will gradually grow fond of the baby as they see the ultrasounds, and believe me, they'll fall in love with the child! Everything will be fine, as long as you stand behind this and radiate it from within!

    @Irene,

    Oh, that's so nice to hear about your parents' reaction, and it's great that you've decided to keep the baby, phew, what a weight off my mind!
    Those parents of your partner can't force you to give the baby up to social services, I don't quite get that either?
    But anyway, I think that's secondary in this situation.
    Of course, finishing your studies is very important, I understand that it might get a bit heavier later on.
    Try to make clear arrangements with your teacher and, of course, involve your parents where you need help.

    Anyway, big hugs and I'm really happy that you're keeping your baby and taking responsibility for it.

    Hey Ireen. Your homie and good friend here. Know that I've always been proud of you and even though we don't talk much, I'm always here for you. We at home are always ready for you. Together we'll get through this, no matter what. You know you never have to do this alone because we know our God will always take care of you and your little baby. Kiss the little one.

    Good afternoon, dear people!
    Another update here.
    My boyfriend has chosen so far not to continue with me. He doesn't want to become a father at this moment. He wants me to have the 'crumb' aborted. And I'm not going to do that. That means our paths are separating. I've told him he needs to take time to process this. He shouldn't make a choice too quickly. That's too hasty. It still hurts me that he already thinks this way. And that I'll soon be a single mother. A little explanation about 'the partnership': the partnership is a business where multiple people are bosses. My boyfriend is a farmer. And he has 2 brothers with whom he is in the partnership. So the 3 farms belong to all three of them.

    I hope everything turns out okay,
    Thanks for your support!

    Love,

    @Irene,

    I do know what a partnership is, but it includes different things like lawyers and notaries..
    What a nasty situation and I think he is heavily influenced by his parents.
    I really hope he changes his mind about that..
    strength girl...
    good that you really don't let the baby be aborted..

    Hey xirene, what a wise decision for a 17-year-old! It's really great of you to keep the baby, because I also think having an abortion is quite a big deal. Having a baby of course, but you get so much back for it.
    It's a shame your boyfriend leaves you hanging, I think it's childish of a 27-year-old.. If you can do it, then you can also take responsibility I think, as a farmer he should know how it works, but well I don't know him of course. Hopefully he'll become sensible after he gets used to the idea, but otherwise you're better off with someone who earns well and is a real man! Xxx and a happy pregnancy wished, I'm proud of you anyway and luckily you have treasures of parents as it seems!
  11. Nannie ❤ #12

    Well girl, your kid will be happy without a dad too, but I do hope there's someone in your life or coming along who will take on the role of dad. The most important thing is that the baby is welcome and feels safe with mom. I already think you're a top mom the way you come across, really!

    I myself was a single mom for 7 years and have a treasure of a daughter; next month she'll be 8 already.

    Besides, I work as a volunteer at Stichting All Together, where young parents can get help 24/7. We're still in the process of making this happen, but we can definitely support you.

    Nice initiative, Nan, and it's so wonderful that you're doing all that for the foundation. I really hope they'll raise enough funds. Are you also planning to arrange housing, etc.?
  13. * #14

    So cute, Nan
  14. dewi #15

    The mother-in-law's reaction, wow, so childish of her. That she as a woman dares to decide for you. She should have better informed her son on how to use a condom. Enough about her. I wish you lots of strength and stay tough.
  15. linn #16

    Dear xirene,

    Oh wow, what a tough situation (with your in-laws and friend) and at the same time beautiful (pregnancy).
    Congratulations on your pregnancy!
    It's really unpleasant that your partner is leaving you hanging like that.

    It's nice that your parents are there for you and reacted so positively!
    Try to sort something out at school so you can finish your studies; this is so important nowadays!

    I wish you a lovely pregnancy and lots of strength in the coming time if your partner really wants to stay apart..

    Love,

    Good evening ladies..

    Yesterday I had terrible stomach pain.. Tears with every cramp in my belly.
    Didn't sleep last night because of the pain. Exactly the same today. Aspirin didn't help. And neither did 2 . This morning when I was on the toilet, the blood started flowing.. And what pain I had. Now apparently I'm on my period... Every hour I'm on the toilet to change. I've never had this before.
    Tomorrow I'm going to the doctor to take another test.
    I enjoyed a nice walk with my boyfriend today and had a good chat.
    If I'm still pregnant, he won't leave me. But we'll face it TOGETHER. How nice that is. He didn't really want me to be pregnant. But to leave me alone with a child, he couldn't bring himself to do that. It definitely won't be easy. In the end, everything will be fine.
    I hope I'm still pregnant. That might sound weird, but in my head I'm already so much further ahead. You naturally start picturing things... Your thoughts are constantly there. Somewhere it would also be nice not to be pregnant. Then I could finish my studies calmly, etc. It's so hard sometimes...
    If I'm still pregnant, the baby is very welcome in our (family). My (foster) parents already say, "Then we're grandparents again." That sounds good. He/she will be received with open arms and will receive lots of love from the first second. But first, we'll wait until tomorrow... I hope I can sleep...

    @irene,

    As I read this, I'm afraid you might have had a miscarriage.
    It's really hard to read this...
    I of course hope you're still pregnant...
    Let us know...
    It's nice that your friend is there to support you at least...

  18. Nannie ❤ #19

    Hey girls, you must have been really startled. I hope you're doing okay, even though it doesn't sound great... It's super nice that you now know your friend will be there for you no matter what his parents think.

    Let us know tomorrow what the outcome was?

    Wishing you success tomorrow too... then you'll know if you're pregnant again
