Had an ultrasound yesterday.
And sure enough, there was our little one, looking great!
We could see the little heart beating very clearly.. it was really beautiful.

Only... something keeps bothering me.

I told everyone yesterday... and there was an old acquaintance of ours who told me, oh well.. the heart stops at 12 weeks, so this could happen to you too, so don't get too excited yet...

That hit me so hard... I had just been reassured, but now I'm stressed again from the start....

Anyone have experience with something unpleasant like this....? The person who did the ultrasound had told me that it still goes wrong 3 to 7% of the time now, and now that I've heard this, I'm scared...

    Hi Jackietje,

I wouldn't put too much weight on your acquaintance's reaction. I understand you're feeling a bit more insecure right now, but listen to the expert opinion of the sonographer! She deals with pregnant women every day, and it's true: if you've seen the little heart beating, the chance that something goes wrong is really, really small. The gynecologist told me the same thing That the chance of it going wrong is still very small.

Your acquaintance is probably still dealing with a lot of unresolved grief, and when she hears that someone in your circle is pregnant, her reaction might be somewhat based on 'jealousy'. Jealousy is a bit of a strange word, but I can't describe it any other way. I know this because I've experienced this feeling myself, it feels awful.
I've had 2 miscarriages myself, and every time someone in my circle told me they were pregnant, I really had a rotten feeling. Even though I tried to be happy for the person, remarks like 'anything can still go wrong' were on the tip of my tongue because I was so sad and wanted to be pregnant myself again. Fortunately, I managed to hold back! Because my mind knew it wasn't fair to say something like that.
It's not fair of your acquaintance to say something like that to you and make you feel insecure. But keep in mind that she probably still finds it very difficult with her miscarriage. Don't put too much value on what she said.

I hope you can take something from this, girl, enjoy your pregnancy to the fullest! It's so special! And everything will surely turn out fine, miss In 9 months you'll have a beautiful baby in your arms

Oh yeah, one more little tip that just popped into my head!
If you're having thoughts like: "something's going to go wrong" or "the little heart might stop," try to quickly picture yourself holding your baby in your arms and push those negative thoughts to the background, replacing them with sweet thoughts about your baby
That really helped me a lot!

Wow, I find this really hard to read..

I know how you feel after a miscarriage, I've had 4. But never did even one person on my head think of making such remarks.
Getting a miscarriage is very hard, you wouldn't wish it on your worst enemy. I find such a response really low.
When we heard from people around us that someone else was pregnant again, I just said congratulations. I couldn't be truly happy. At home the tears came and I kept saying to my husband, I hope they don't have to experience what we've been through....

The chance that it will go well is really big though. How far along are you now?

    Holy crap,

Wow, that's intense... respect to you!

Yeah, it really hurt a lot when she said that to me.... really a lot of mean things, I really fell apart.

    I'm 8 weeks pregnant..

hence the fears.. wow.. I still need to recover from it.

That's really impressive of you to handle it so well.. you must have had a hard time at home, right?

Is everything okay with you now?

    Love x

At 8 weeks, there's a little heartbeat, so everything is good Try to enjoy it. Things can always go wrong, but you really shouldn't think about that.

    Now everything is fine, no carefree pregnancy due to regular bleeding, but our little one is doing super;
I have another ultrasound next Wednesday, I can't wait

Think about that beautiful ultrasound and stop worrying about that report. And try to enjoy it!

    Hi ladies,

I'm 7 weeks pregnant now. Next Friday I'm going to the OB-GYN, finally after a long 4-week wait. But I'm a bit scared of getting bad news that we probably can't prepare ourselves for. The nausea is gradually decreasing. I had some shoulder pain on the right side for a few days (probably a cold draft). The tension in my breasts is slowly decreasing (maybe it'll come back). I'm really struggling with gas and lower back pain. The first few weeks I had stomach pain on the lower left side, but that's gone now too. I'm having a lot of discharge, some days more than others. Maybe I'm worrying about nothing, and the little one is growing nicely in my belly. Do you have any advice?

I hope we'll see a good, healthy baby on the first ultrasound with a nice beating heart. I hope we don't get bad news because I don't know how I'd react. Do you have any advice?

Garnaaltje, the only thing I can tell you is that symptoms come and go. Try to wait calmly. I know it's not easy.
  8. garnaaltje Guest #9

No, it's not easy. I hope that tension comes back. They are back just like during pregnancy. I also got Motilium from my GP in the first weeks for the nausea because I could hardly keep anything down. Could that be harmful? I also don't drink milk or yogurt, I can't tolerate it. Is that harmful to the baby?
  9. Poesh #10

If your doctor says you can take Motilium during pregnancy, it won't do any harm.

I’ve got a bit more tension in my breasts again, but not like in the first few weeks. And I’ve also had stomach pain for the whole evening, more cramps and a lot of gas. I’ll be really glad when Friday comes. Hope the cramps will be gone tomorrow.

When I woke up this morning, they were super sensitive, but when I got up to go to the toilet, the tension was completely gone. Even my nipples feel soft and they’re not tight anymore. I’m currently 7 weeks, so maybe that’s a good sign since I haven’t lost any blood yet. Maybe my body has accepted the hormone, or maybe it stopped. I know that when I was 4/5 weeks, I had a value of 5220, so maybe that’s a good sign... I don’t eat dairy products anymore because of the nausea. And I ride my scooter to work every day, so maybe our baby is no longer alive, or maybe not. Every morning and evening I rub my belly and talk to that baby. Maybe it sounds weird, but I’m trying to stay positive.
