I had a gender scan yesterday at 14 weeks + 4 days, with 98% confirmation it was a girl, which I didn't expect so early. The woman did something really weird, but I'd love to hear your stories or experiences about when the gender turned out to be wrong!!! Please share your comments..

    Hi Isabella07,

I also did a gender scan at 15 weeks.
I really couldn't see what that woman saw, but she saw a girl, and since I couldn't see anything for sure, I had a lot of doubts.
So I waited for the 20-week scan to confirm!!!
I haven't bought anything for my little one during those weeks ;-)
What I can advise you is to wait for your 20-week scan for your own peace of mind ;-)

And I've read that mistakes are often made where they think it's a girl and it turns out to be a boy!!
And otherwise, that mistake is made much less often!!

Hope I've given you some advice!!
    Good luck

    Love, Nail

Interesting, we clearly saw a boy at 12 weeks, legs visible at 16w. Just had the 20w scan (with a different OB) and guess what, nothing to be seen! He says it's more likely a girl than a boy! How does that work?

My sister had this too. The OB-GYN first said it was a boy, but on one of the next ultrasounds, it turned out to be a girl after all.

My mom always says that according to the OB-GYN, I would have been a boy too, and I can assure you that's not the case

Haha, sweet! They might miss it, eh
Now we're really curious about the next ultrasound—hopefully, we'll get confirmation of the gender!

We had a gender scan at 13 weeks and 1 day, and the midwife said it's very clearly a boy! I'm curious what they'll see on the 20-week scan in 3 weeks

I also had a gender ultrasound at 14 weeks.. The baby wasn't still at all, so I was really doubting the girl result.. So I also waited until the 20-week scan would give a clear answer.. And then she was still a girl ...

Most clinics don’t do it at 14 weeks because the chance of getting the wrong answer is still higher. We had ours done at 16.5 weeks, and she was kicking around a lot with her legs haha. They said it was a girl, and the next day they did an extra check. Another girl.

I still had a bit of an unsure feeling because it wasn’t 100% certain right away. At 20 weeks, they checked again, and she was lying straight with her genitals clearly visible haha, definitely a girl!!

So I’d say it’s probably correct, but hold off on buying gender-specific stuff until you’ve had the 20-week ultrasound. They can always check again if the gender is still accurate.

I had a prenatal screening done at 12 weeks, and according to that lady, it was a girl.

I was really torn, so we decided to just wait until the 20-week ultrasound. According to the midwife, it was also a girl.
