I'm making it impossible for my husband.

Hi ladies,

I need to get this off my chest, hoping that other ladies will recognize themselves in this and I'll feel a bit more 'normal' again.

I've been arguing with my husband for weeks. Financially, we're not doing too well, and just like with my previous pregnancy, I'm really stressing out about it now. He's a laborer, which means he should be getting plenty of work and good hours with this beautiful weather. But his employer doesn't have much faith in him because he's incredibly insecure. On top of that, I'm constantly nagging him to push for more hours, putting a lot of pressure on him.

I've turned into a monster: I argue about everything because everything irritates me. And I get fiercer and fiercer because he gets quieter and quieter and doesn't care at all, as if no one is home. I throw the nastiest things at him, acting like everything is his fault, while my sweet, caring man is fading away. I feel like a terrible person and would just love to disappear for the next 6 months, then come back as the cheerful, caring girl I am.

Does anyone else recognize themselves in this, or should I conclude that I'm really crazy?

So relatable! Your hormones and the situation you're in right now are amplifying whatever you've likely been dealing with all along. I think it's important for you and your partner to talk about this together (maybe with a neutral third party involved). You don't want your relationship to become so fragile that it can't recover. It might also help to talk to someone on your own to express your frustration and concerns without having to bring them up every time with your partner. Wishing you lots of strength!

    Hey girl,

That sucks that you're feeling this way I'd suggest planning a moment where you both can take turns letting your hearts out. I'd do this without trying to throw blame, because pointing fingers gets you nowhere

Once you've both said what's on your mind, you can discuss together how to handle things better and how to gain more understanding from both sides, without one of you shutting down and the other completely losing it. He'll surely understand you; he's not stupid and knows what hormones do to you

I've experienced it myself too, not all day long, but I can really react bitchily without even realizing it! My husband then looks at me in a certain way, grins a bit, and just from his look, I always have to laugh really hard and realize I've reacted way too intensely I apologize, because often I don't even realize it! And give him a hug. Luckily, we can both take it in stride, and especially when he grins, I know I need to do the same

I hope you find a way to handle those hormones well too! Stay strong and make sure you come out of this stronger together! It's okay to worry about money, girl, but remember that everything will turn out fine in the end (one way or another) and that your relationship is truly the most important thing! Good luck, girl!!

I can totally understand how you feel.
I’m not exactly the easiest person to be around when I’m pregnant either. Just last week we had a huge fight over... well, basically nothing!
Started crying out of nowhere and my husband asked me, “Why are you crying now?” And I told him I didn’t even know myself!
He did understand a bit better what was going on inside me because I tried explaining that it’s like a rollercoaster.
It’s not easy, but talking and trying to describe what’s going on inside you can really help.

Btw, we were also in a pretty tight spot financially with the first one. Now I’m pregnant with the second and things are better, but it’s still not the ideal situation we’d like.
You’ll get there, it just takes time!
But it’s completely normal that you’re worried about it.

You say he's getting quieter and quieter, which is also frustrating, especially for us women. But exactly then, we shouldn't get more aggressive, because men will then deliberately shut themselves off and stop listening altogether. They also can't take in much; we can take in a lot more of what's being said. And getting angry has a demotivating effect on men; they either go on the attack or they deliberately shut themselves off and stop listening altogether. Extremely annoying, I know, and so exhausting. Actually, you should explain briefly and clearly what bothers you and what you want from him, then give him some time to think about it. It might sound strange, but all women have this problem; men differ so much from us that communication and other things often go wrong because of it. It's mostly caused by the fact that we aren't aware of how different we are from each other. You should buy the book by John Gray, I think, "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus." It all seems very simple, but it contains information on how men think, how they take in information, and how you can get things done without any effort or arguments. It also has very useful tips and methods. Strength and hope that you find it helpful Greetings, Madelene

I actually didn't have any issues with hormones during my pregnancy.
I was actually more in love, and he spoiled me a bit extra and was so caring, as usual.
But during my pregnancies, he was even more so, which made me feel really nice and comfortable.
I was even more affectionate towards him during my pregnancies because of that.
You see, every woman is different during pregnancy.
But I do recommend you read that book, because those irritations unfortunately keep coming back in your relationship or marriage. We differ so much from men that it always remains difficult to interact with them in the right way.
And we always run into things because we don't automatically stop to consider how differently they interpret and see things.
That book gives you as a woman a lot of insight.
Very relatable, the things described in it.
    Greetings, Madelene
