Are there any people with experience of cramps in the first weeks of pregnancy?

Hi, I'm just over 5 weeks pregnant and have been having severe abdominal cramps for a few weeks now. The midwife says this is normal due to all the changes happening in your body and that it's nothing harmful. I know what's causing it, so it feels a bit less worrying, but it's still really unpleasant. Has anyone else here experienced this?

    I had that until five weeks too. I'm now at six weeks and have less of it, but in its place, I've got a lot of tension on my nipples. It's all part of the process, nothing to worry about. You should only be concerned if it gets too severe or if there's bleeding too. Last year, we had a miscarriage where I only had some side pains, so we're happy to feel more now. Just enjoy it.

    Thanks for your quick reply! Yes, I'm definitely enjoying it too! You can really feel that something is happening in your belly, and that's super nice to hear!

    Hi Suus, I've also had a lot of cramps from the start. Really annoying! A hot water bottle sometimes helps, have you tried that already?

    Hi.

    I'm almost 5 weeks pregnant, and I've had nagging pain and cramps all day, with sharp twinges. Sometimes I get burning breasts.

    It's supposed to be normal, but I end up on the toilet regularly, scared haha.

    @ Sophie yes, a birthing ball does help indeed... A warm shower also relieves it somewhat. Well, luckily it's all for a good cause. If I don't have any cramps for a day now, I'd start worrying haha.
    @Sally yes, I completely understand what you mean. But on the other hand, it is a sign that something is happening in your belly.

    Heey. I have exactly the same.. feel my breasts for a while now, and since Saturday severe cramps on the left side of my belly.. thought oh no.. quickly to the toilet but nothing was wrong. According to my midwife I'm 5 weeks pregnant on Friday. Exciting all... bloated during the day and very nauseous in the evening.. and like my breasts are about to explode haha.
    Hopefully everything goes well. In May our first ultrasound.
