Work arrangements after giving birth

Hi everyone,
The parental leave allowance was abolished in 2015.
Are there any schemes still available that help when you want to work less?
How did you manage work and childcare?

Best wishes!

    Hey Niebje,

Is there no parental leave left at all? Last year it was such that I could do that but then I had to work my old contract form for at least half a year after I had used it.
Furthermore, I do not know if there are any arrangements.
We have arranged childcare with a nanny. I work in healthcare and she can cover all the short moments when I am at work and my husband is not yet home. Furthermore, our son goes to grandma and grandpa a lot. How we are going to manage it with 2 in the future I do not know yet, if it works for everyone I think we will fill it in the same way :-)
How do you plan to arrange it?

    Hi!
Yes, there is parental leave, but no more parental leave discount!
That’s why there’s no longer any subsidy.

I’m home one day, my husband one day, one day with my mom, one day with his mom, and then we still have one day left

    cheers

Oh, what a shame that it’s been abolished! Terrible, right, those babysitters! How are you going to arrange it the other day? Childminder or daycare?

Well, I actually don't want either of those, haha...
It feels so awful to have to leave my 3-month-old baby with a 'stranger'
But I think I'd rather go for a daycare then.

Yeah, I get that! I personally found the nanny setting the most comfortable.. This is because the baby ends up in a family setting and isn't overwhelmed by so many kids (and I was afraid he'd get very little attention..) Plus, he'd see a different caregiver often. The homely feel of a nanny really appealed to me, and the fact that the baby only needs to attach to one person. Plus, I know our nanny really well now. Beforehand, I'd visited her a few times to see if we clicked and if our parenting styles were somewhat compatible, and luckily, they were.
But this is different for everyone, of course!
