Growth of the belly has stopped??

Hi ladies,

I'm getting a little worried. Tomorrow I'll be 19 weeks pregnant and already have a bump. At 10 weeks I had to switch from regular pants to maternity ones. I'm quite slim, so it happened pretty fast.

But now it seems like my bump hasn't grown for about 2 weeks. Is it normal that your bump doesn't get bigger? My bump shape does change though. Who has experience with this??

Your baby can also grow inward, I had that too.

It can get quite painful near your ribs. Do you have strong abdominal muscles??

Anyway, if you're worried, I'd suggest popping by the midwife for a quick check. She can feel, measure, listen, etc., and put your mind at ease!

    Hi Wendy,

No worries, girl. In the beginning, your belly grows fast and noticeably. I recognize that; I had it too. Then I stood still for a long time, and suddenly between week 26 and 28, I had a huge growth spurt... so much that they thought I was going to give birth any moment... I'm almost 31 weeks!?!?!

And the midwife always checks and feels if your growth is going well. If you're worried, just call the midwife.

    Good luck, girl,

    Greetings, Nicole

Ladies, thanks for the replies.. So far it's normal that you can just pause for a moment..

@Inge, that's new to me, that your baby can grow inwards..
Good luck with your abs, I wouldn't really dare to say yes or no. I'm not a sporty person, absolutely not.. But I did do belly dancing for about half a year and you only use your abs there, so I think it's about average.

@Uk, that's exactly it, I've been to the midwife 3 times now and haven't been measured or weighed yet.. She did say last time that the little one is growing well and is already quite high.. I'm going again on Monday and I'll definitely ask if she wants to measure and weigh me and do a quick check to make sure everything is okay, of course..

    Love, Wendy
