Miscarriage

Hi lovely ladies.
On Friday I started bleeding heavily and had a lot of cramps. The hospital is going to check today if the baby has come out already, but if not, what will they do then? I don't want to be treated in the hospital; I have nothing to do with needles and all that!!
What is

curettage

Exactly?

Xx

    @Mama-2010,

    That's terrible that you have to go through this.
    This is a curettage.

    A curettage is a minor procedure. The uterine cavity is cleaned out through the vagina, so it's not a surgery that leaves you with scars. There are two ways to do it: the uterine cavity is emptied using a thin tube (vacuum curette) or cleaned with a curette (a kind of spoon). The procedure takes about 5 to 10 minutes and is done as a day procedure under anesthesia or outpatient with pain medication via an IV.

    Thanks mavanmi!

    I'd rather not have these kinds of treatments; I don't want an IV or an epidural.
    Can I just wait until it comes out on its own or not?
