You're absolutely right, Kimberley, it happens when it happens. We already have a beautiful 5-year-old daughter, but it would be lovely for her to get a brother or sister too. And Brigitte, I got my period for the first time in February, so I think I'll get it again in two weeks. If that's the case, then there's a regular cycle. So we'll keep our fingers crossed and be patient! -

That's so nice, this topic. I had my IUD removed in September. Only had three cycles so far. The first one was 73 days, the second 52 days, and the last one 39 days. That was on March 6th. And now waiting and hoping it becomes a bit more stable. We already have a child and also had a Mirena before that. Then my cycle was regular right away, and it was a hit on the 4th cycle.
Very different from now though. It would be nice if it was a hit on the 4th cycle now (that would be now), even though it took much longer for the 4th cycle to finally kick in.
Congratulations on your pregnancy, Kimberly!! -

Hi DeeDee, how nice that you have a daughter too! I do as well, a beautiful girl of 5 years old, and my IUD was removed at the end of October last year. It seems like everyone around me is getting pregnant or giving birth. If I get my period next week, it'll be the second time I have a regular cycle of about 30 days. So it's exciting. Welcome! And good luck. -

Yes, so crazy, right! Everyone around here is pregnant too. My daughter is now 2 years and 9 months old.
Yeah, it's all so exciting again. Once you really want it, everything feels like it takes way too long, I've noticed that.
I really hope you don't get your period next week!

Looks like you've got a tough little girl! Nice to follow each other like this. My boyfriend wasn't too happy when I told him about ovulation tests. He's more the "we'll see" type, and if it doesn't work out by the end of this year, we should just be content with what we have. And I can kind of see his point, but next month I'll be 34, and I'm still hoping for a little miracle in my belly. Greetings, Dirkje -

Yes, very brave and especially very stubborn.. almost three and knows exactly what she wants and doesn't want. And that's almost always different from how mom wants it
Oh, I have a man like that here too. And we're in the same boat. If it doesn't work out, we won't go all out. A few tests if it doesn't work after a year, we think is fine. We're already happy and blessed with a healthy girl. A second one would just make it even more complete than it already is.
I'll start with ovulation tests next round if it's not happening yet.
Can you test this week or not? Exciting!! -

Beautiful, as you say, blessed. Just like with you, our little family of 3 is complete, but I'm really thinking about expanding the family. I should get my period around Thursday, and if not, I'll test over the weekend. I'll let you know soon! Greetings, Dirkje -

Hi hi, I had my IUD removed 3 weeks ago. I'm going for my 4th baby after stopping the pill. With my 3rd, I was pregnant a month later. Now I've had the IUD for 2.5 years, and it was removed almost 3 weeks ago, but I don't know what to expect or when I should get my period. Any info on this? -

Hi there, my IUD was removed on July 6, 2017. We were hoping to try for our first little one, but I had unprotected sex the day before. I ovulated on July 7, 2017. Could the egg have been fertilized? I'm experiencing fatigue, abdominal pain, lower back pain, and potatoes don't taste good to me anymore...
Well, we really want a baby.
I haven't gotten my period yet, so maybe it's too early to conclude anything. I'd love to hear your thoughts. -

Hey ladies,
glad I came across this forum. I had my (now second) IUD removed on June 12, and a few days later had some light bleeding (probably still from the removal). On June 28 (as more or less predicted by my gynecologist) I got my first period (4 days), and since then I've been waiting for the next one (we're now on day 33). It's pretty annoying when you don't know how your cycle works.
I don't use ovulation tests, I find them too much hassle, and during my last pregnancy they didn't work at all. But I do use the Billings method, which worked really well during my last pregnancy.
We already have two precious kids, Anna (4.5 years) and Emile (15 months), and we really want to try for a third little miracle. -

Hi,
I'm Marloes. On June 29th, I had my Mirena removed after 4.5 years.
My partner and I really want to have our first baby.
I got my period on July 2nd (lasted a week) after the removal. I should have gotten my period either last weekend or today. My gynecologist says you're fertile right away, but you also read and hear that your body needs time to adjust and start regulating everything on its own again.
Because I've been really tired and nauseous for the past two weeks, I did several tests, even had a blood test done by my GP. But nothing came up.
I like to have everything under control, but you can't really control this.
I'm worried something might be wrong with my ovaries, not sure why, but it could be because my twin sister has PCOS.
How are you all doing in this situation? When do you go to the GP if it doesn't work out?
Love,
Marloes -

Hi hi, I had my spiral removed on February 20th. One month later I got my period, and now my cycle is 28 days long. Unfortunately, I'm still not pregnant. -

Marloes: give your body a little more time to get back into gear. I haven't heard of anyone who got pregnant right away after having the IUD removed.
By the way, it took me 3 months after removal before I got pregnant (and I didn't have a normal period in between).
Good luck!

Quick question, ladies!
My Mirena was removed on June 12th, and I had light bleeding 3 days later.
My first period came on July 12th and lasted for 3 days.
According to the calculation, I should have gotten my period again on Thursday, August 10th, but I suddenly started bleeding yesterday, August 6th. It's light but bright red. Every time I wipe, it's bright blood.
Could this be because my body is still trying to find its rhythm and this is a period, or is it implantation bleeding?
I've been reading a lot that implantation bleeding is brownish instead of bright red.
Any experiences? I'm 36 now, and to be honest, I'm a bit scared it'll be harder, but I've just started. So no reason to stress yet. -

Little experience here...
The first few months (after the Mirena was removed) I sometimes had more spotting with brown discharge, then red, then light pink blood. And I once lost a bit more for 2 days, which I don't know if I should count as a period or not.
If you want dates:
March 3 removed,
March 6/7 light bleeding. (probably due to the disturbance of having the coil removed, so not a period)
March 14/15 light bleeding
April 18/19 'lost a bit more blood'
May 29 pregnant. -

Hey,
I just got my first period behind me (cycle was about 40 days :ermm
. The kids are both leaving home tomorrow, so some quality time for mom and dad.
I got pregnant 6 months after removing the Mirena with my son, so I hope it'll go a bit smoother this time, although it's not exactly easy when you don't know how your cycle is going.
Marloes, your body does need some time, I noticed that last time and now again.
Lies, that loss could well have been your period in my opinion. Your body has been quiet for a long time, so you don't know right away how things are. It'll work out.
Good luck to the ladies who are also waiting for a little miracle. -

Hi hi,
Maybe someone can help me or give me a bit of advice.
I had my Mirena IUD removed in early June and as of now I still haven't gotten my period.. I've taken multiple tests but I'm not pregnant. Does anyone know if this is common..
I haven't had my period for more than three months and I've been very emotional, feeling like hormones are running through my body, and my stomach gets hard at night, so it's always a big disappointment that the tests keep coming back negative.
Has anyone else experienced this and after how long did your period come back?
Best regards! -

Hi ladies,
I had my IUD removed on August 28th (after 8 years, with a replacement after 5 years). I’ve never really had a regular period, except when I was on the pill for about a year before getting the IUD inserted.
Right after the removal, I had bleeding for a week (I think it was a period, but probably just bleeding from the removal shouldn’t last a week), but so far, no second period.
Just to be safe, I took a test, but unfortunately, it was negative. I haven’t noticed any other physical signs either.
Hopefully, we’ll get a positive test soon
Cheers. -

Good luck, Melissa! It's always a bit nerve-wracking after stopping contraception when your body is getting back into its normal rhythm! But I wouldn't count on a perfectly regular cycle right away. Just give it some time.
