Hi! I'm curious if anyone has experience with having the Mirena IUD removed. And how long it took for you to get pregnant, or how long you've been trying to conceive.

I'm now on my 5th cycle after getting my IUD removed. The first two months I had very irregular periods, but now I can predict them. Unfortunately, not pregnant yet. How about you?

Hi! I'm doing well, but unfortunately, I'm not pregnant yet. My IUD was removed back in October last year. They say that you're fertile right after removal, but then you read online that your body needs time to adjust. Which makes sense! We're hoping for a second baby soon. How are you doing? Is this your first one? It's exciting, and good luck!

    Hey Dirkje,

It went pretty quickly for me... My IUD was removed at the end of October and I got my regular period back in November. I had an early miscarriage in December and now I'm 6 weeks pregnant. So it can indeed happen really fast! Of course, this baby needs to hold on for a little while now I should mention that I used ovulation tests last month! That really helped, I think.

Thank you so much I'm in a bit of an uncertain period right now, really hoping our little miracle stays with us! But it is indeed our first one! Everything is quite exciting It's nice that you already have a daughter, though.

Depending on your cycle length, you start testing 9 days after the first day of your last period. Because one ovulates 1 day after day 10, and the other after 14 or 17... the leaflet tells you which day to start (per cycle length). You dip a strip in your urine, indeed, and then a line appears or it doesn't... If the line is extremely purple (same as the control line), you have an LH peak... and after your LH peak, ovulation happens within 12 to 48 hours, so if you have sex then, you have the most chance What an invention, huh, hehe

Oh, that’s so sad you haven’t had your period yet. At 1 month it does indeed take a bit longer than with the other one... can’t the doctor prescribe something for that, right? I’ve read that somewhere here after someone had a miscarriage. It helps get your cycle going. I don’t know if ovulation tests make sense if you don’t get your period, because do you even ovulate then?

If you want to buy them, I’d recommend the website Sensitest The cheapest dipsticks I had... especially because I needed a lot of them since I didn’t know my cycle either, so I thought, I’ll just test every day all month long haha.

By the way, I have a lot of them now... if I stay pregnant and you still need them, you can have them! But I’ll keep them for now because I’m still a bit unsure myself

Hi, who knew a person could be so happy to get their period!! 3 months after having the IUD removed, I got my period for the first time this morning, and it's good to have it (it's been a long time/5 years). So when is the best time to take an ovulation test? I really didn't pay much attention to biology, the human body, you know... Greetings
  7. Lies #8

Haha, I didn't know that either It depends on your cycle length when you should start, but you haven't got that yet. To be safe, would you start 9 days after your first period day? Or 10? Then I think you won't miss it

So vague again! So last Thursday I had quite a period, but not continuously. And last night nothing at all, so no regularity yet unfortunately. But I do have ovulation tests at home for in about 10 days, then roughly, but my boyfriend knows nothing about it..

    Hi Dirkje,

A bit of a late reply, but I don't hang out on the forum that much so I don't drive myself completely crazy
I was actually supposed to get my period on Feb 2nd.. It hasn't happened yet so I took a test today but it was negative..
So we'll just have to wait for my period so we can start trying again.

This is my first baby, for my husband it's his 3rd..
There's a pretty significant age difference between my husband and me, but I'm not bothered by that at all!
Still, I've read (yes, I drove myself crazy) that it might be harder in that case..

Good luck this period! Ovulation tests just don't seem to work for me for some reason.. very weird!
Has anyone else experienced this? Different brand or something?

Hi. I really have no patience and read this forum every day. So I bought ovulation tests at Kruidvat, and I was supposed to start on the 10th of this month. But just now I did a test and got one line from the test, which is successful, but unfortunately no second line. I haven't had my period since last Sunday. For us, it's the 2nd time, and we're so happy about it.. Strength and success.

Hi ladies, how are you doing? My partner and I are now entering the 4th month. I've been getting my period regularly for the past 2 months. Just finished my period, so in about 8 days I'll start doing ovulation tests. Greetings, Dirkje

    Hey hey,

Sorry that I haven't written in a while..
I was supposed to get my period last Thursday, and I always do a pregnancy test that morning on that day so I know if I should expect my period.. and unfortunately it was negative.

On Tuesday I still hadn't gotten my period, so I tested again and YES! Positive.
So I'm pregnant I can tell you that I got pregnant 7 months after having my IUD removed.

I'm already having quite a bit of morning sickness and get tired pretty quickly.. I hope that will pass soon.
    How are you doing?

    Greetings, Kimberley

Hi ladies, I had my IUD removed on Jan 27 after 8 years. We're trying for a 5th child. I'm already 39 and hope we'll still succeed. With the other kids, I got pregnant right away. But I still haven't had a period yet. I hope to get a regular cycle soon so I can at least have something to go by. Good luck to all the ladies!
  16. brigitte #17

It had to be there, what a bad typo

Kimberley, that's great for you. Congratulations!! Enjoy it. For me, it's been 5 months since I had my IUD removed and I'm doing ovulation tests because I unfortunately can't get my LH peak to show up. But we're having sex about every other day. Our daughter is 5 and I'm 34 years old. Hi Brigitte, welcome here. Typos can also be funny if you don't read too much into them. It's lovely to chat with each other.
  18. brigitte #19

Hey Dirkje, and have you gotten your period yet? Because it's still missing. I had clear ovulation tests last month, so apparently there was an ovulation.
Nice to chat back and forth
  19. Kimberley #20

    Thanks for the congratulations!

I had the same problem with those tests..
I just stopped because I was getting so down with the tests.

We haven't been so focused on it for the last 2 months and mainly did it when we felt like it, not every day.. We had more fun and stuff and I think that really made the difference

So if I can give you a tip, don't get too worked up about it.. do it when you feel like it and have lots of fun!

My husband already has 2 kids from a previous marriage, aged 5 and 7, so there's quite an age gap between us. Because we had set a goal—I wanted to be pregnant before he turned 36—it didn't really get any better when it didn't work out by the end of the month..

Now of course I'm super happy that it worked out and I hope that happens for you soon too!!
