Hi everyone

My little boy is already 6 months old now. I think he sleeps well overall (4h during the day), but always in short naps. If he's awake for an hour and a half, he starts protesting. When I put him in his crib, he only sleeps for 45 minutes each time. He can stay awake for 2.5 hours, but then there's nothing more to do. If he falls asleep then, he usually only sleeps for half an hour... At night he sleeps 11 hours. So he's really a light sleeper who needs his sleep... Are there any other people who have this?

I'm worried because I see that other people's kids easily sleep through for 2-3 hours.

What's your opinion on this?

Every child is different. My daughter wasn't exactly the picture of sleepiness during the day either—definitely dozed off for about half an hour after feeding, but then she'd be cheerful and awake again.

If she sleeps well at night, I think there's nothing to worry about.

45 minutes is the normal length of one sleep cycle for babies (for older children and adults, it's about 1½ hours). Between sleep cycles, they wake up a little bit, and if they have trouble falling back asleep on their own, they wake up completely. Just typical baby behavior from your little boy! If he sleeps a total of 15 hours per day, I don't think there's anything to worry about. And you also know exactly when to put him back to bed so he doesn't get overtired. That's totally fine, right?

Indeed, as already mentioned here, every child is different and has a different rhythm.
But my little girls used to sleep from 11 am until around 2 pm in the afternoon, and that was it every day.
And in the evening they slept from half past seven until 7 am the next morning. Now they're preschoolers and luckily they still sleep in on weekends until 10 am, but during the week it's less because they have to go to school. Then I have to struggle to wake them up.
    Greetings, Madelene
